right now this is just a preseason top 25 in my opinion of course
I'm pretty sure I'll piss someone off somehow
1. USC- right now they look like the best team with all the pieces in place.
2. LSU- Apparently Mettenberger has been good, but he hasn't played in a real game yet and got in a fight with a member of the team. So for those reasons mainly the first one LSU is 2nd not first.
3. Oregon- I personally think Bennett will be an upgrade over Thomas based on how he played in some action last year. Oregon's 3rd though because you never know how he'll handle a full season.
4. Georgia- this team has all the pieces in place to be the best team this year, they return just about everyone. Murray has to be more consistant, he has times where he looks amazing, then suddenly won't be able to complete any passes. The top 4 are very interchangable, but they are definitely separate from the teams after.
5. South Carolina- they really ended last year strong, they return a bit more on the defense than expected, plus their offense gets Lattimore back which is huge. Connor Shaw started to play really good late last year and likely will even be better this year.
6. Oklahoma- Now this is where preseason definitely comes into play, I personally think Oklahoma's in for a down year because I don't think Landry Jones is that good without Broyles, but on paper Oklahoma returns a lot of starters and gets the 6th spot.
7. Wisconsin- they return a decent about of defense plus they return Montee Ball which is huge. They lost some good linemen but they always find new linemen that are good. Danny O'Brian was a good QB before Randy Edsall ruined him, maybe Bielema can unruin him.
8. TCU- TCU had a primarily young team last year and payed for it early, but now they return a lot of starters including most of their offense which was surprisingly good last year. If TCU's defense is a typical Gary Patterson defense and not like last years defense TCU will definitely be a very dangerous team in their first year in the Big 12.
9. Kansas State- they return a lot of starters including Colin Klein.
10. Michigan State- they lose Kirk Cousins and Cunningham but other than that they return a lot of players.
11. Alabama- they lose nearly all of their defense that was so good last year, since this is preseason they start out #11 because we don't know yet how their defense will be since they will still likely have to rely on it.
12. Michigan- They had a great year last year and return quite a few starters so they get this ranking, I personally thought they got a lot of breaks and won't get as many this year so I think they won't be finishing the year here.
13. Virginia Tech- They had a mostly young team last year and they definitely had some down moments, Logan Thomas has the potential to be great this year but he will be tested with the losses of Coale, Boykin and Wilson. Though Wilson is a great player Virginia Tech traditionally doesn't have problems finding running backs.
14. Clemson- maybe after last year it might be a little too ironic ranking Clemson behind Virginia Tech. Clemson should be great on offense again, but what will happen with the defense?? The defense was absolutely horrible last year AND loses its only good players. Lots of questions there. Plus Clemson definitely didn't end the year strong.
15. Texas- the main question during this year is the quarterback position, if they get that figured out Texas is a potential sleeper team for this year.
16. Washington- they should be really good this year, they return a lot of their offense except for Polk. Plus their defense can't get any worse.
17. BYU- this team returns a lot of starters from a team that was actually pretty good last year with 10 wins, yet was pretty much ignored for the most part.
18. Boise State- Losing a lot of starters from last years team, I personally think we'll do a good job replacing starters with only a minor step back, but for now will put them down here.
19. Nebraska- this team was off and on last year, if they can be consistant they will be pretty good.
20. Stanford- this program looks to be here for good, but we'll have to wait and see how they replace Andrew Luck and most of their offensive line. The defense should be really good though with getting Skov back.
21. Utah- they should be good, their defense by far the best in the Pac-12, but their offense is currently the worst in the Pac-12, if they can improve their offense they could be a sleeper in the Pac-12.
22. Georgia Tech- Stephen Hill is really the only big loss for Georgia Tech, but he's a reciever so they really don't use him much anyways. Only reason why Georgia Tech isn't higher is because of how they played late last year.
23. West Virginia- they return a lot from last years team but the rankings some people have this team is crazy. They lost 3 games last year and the only good team they played was LSU. Now they enter the much tougher Big 12 every team in the Big 12(except Kansas and maybe Iowa State) is tougher than every team they played last year except for LSU.
24. Arkansas State- apparently Dyer is going to be eligible, Arkansas State already had some good talent, but the addition of Dyer makes this team great. They will most likely lose to Oregon in the opponer and it likely won't be close. If they can get past that they at least have a shot at beating Nebraska, they will at least keep that one close, other than that the rest of the games are very winable.
25. Washington State- 25th spot can be used for a fun team that could surprise some people, lets go with Mike Leach and Washington State.
just outside
Florida State- so they weren't very good last year, and never really played good at all, yet they get ranked in the top 10? I have no clue where they get the logic for this. Florida State is definitely a prove it team just like...
Ohio State- I personally think they will be a top 25 team, but they went 6-7 last year so they'll have to show me first.
Oklahoma State
Baylor
Auburn
NC State
Louisiana Tech- hey they return a lot of players and their entire staff from a team that ended great last year.
Virginia
South Florida
Louisville
Texas Tech
Florida
Cincinnati
Wyoming
Tennessee
Illinois
Missouri
Navy
Ohio
Louisiana-Lafayette
Arkansas
