I Truly hope they do cuz Dallas fans are..well.. Dallas fans. But I worry about Dallas controlling the time of possession. Yous guys are gonna have to get some turnovers.
Time of possession is vastly overrated. There's like a minute and a half difference in average Top between the number 1 ranked team and the 25th ranked team. Most of the top ToP teams are bad offenses.

Not impressed with the Packers D. Thats my response.

Nice rebuttal, I'll take that as conceding they're the best defense in the NFL right now considering an all time great 12.5 ppg allowed(- 1.5 Q of garbage time) and forcing more TO's than anyone over the last 7 weeks.

If that's not impressive to you than nothing is or ever will be.

Huh?
There is a 3 minute difference between #1 and #25.
4 of the top 5 teams in TOP are in the playoffs
Time of possession absolutely matters late in the game if your defense is worn out.

Time of possession is vastly overrated. .

TOP keeps your offense in rhythm, tires out the opposing defense while keeping your defense fresher

not sure how that is overrated

I'm sure Bama doesn't think its overrated.

Ask those Eagles defensive teams under Chip Kelly if TOP is overrated lol.

Ridiculous statement

TOP doesn't matter a whole lot if you're clearly the better team.

If you aren't, though....Its darn near everything.

ATL - 27
SEA - 24
I can see Wilson having a good game vs the ATL D, but I just don't think SEA will get enough pressure on Ryan.

You may very well be right for this week, but in week 6 Seattle sacked Ryan 4 times, including a strip sack. The defense also hit him hard throughout the 1st half. Getting pressure on him wasn't an issue the last time these teams played.

So pretty much unless you're the Pats this week, TOP is pretty freaking important?

Zeke only had one run over 10 yards in the first half and just over 50 yards rushing. However, GB uncharacteristically had 4 TO's and two of them cost them TD's. After that the game got out of hand then allowed Zeke to get big runs in the second half. In the first half in a tight game he was neutralized.

I will bookmark your comment for future reference. You will blame the refs as cowgirl fans did with the Dez drop. LMAO
He put up 157 in a blowout, and you are talking about stats at halftime? d'ok.

I dare you to find one post where I blamed the refs or called that a catch.

IMO, TOP doesn't matter if you have the clearly superior defense.

Because it has nothing to do with scoring which is the actual goal of having the ball

To clarify I'm not saying it's not important. It's just not vital to scoring. If you possess the ball for 5 minutes and don't score it's a lost possession. Likewise the amount of plays run is far more vital to wearing out a D than simply running a lot of time off the clock in between plays. Many of the top 15 in time of possession have good offenses. Many don't. It's not a real indicator of anything

doesn't that mean that the more time your offense has the ball, the more chances they have to score

True...2nd half pressure was a different story.

I think we all know the NFL playoffs is about peaking late...from week 6 to now, the Falcons level of play has clearly gotten better, whereas SEA may not be playing their best ball right now. They have the pedigree, heart of a champion, etc. I think they will be a tough out, if they lose.

doesn't that mean that the more time your offense has the ball, the more chances they have to score
No. More possessions equals more points not more plays. A 2 play 75 yard TD drive is far more efficient than a 10 play 46 yard drove where you punt. A lot of the value of time of possession depends on your offense. Teams who run it more like Dallas or Tennessee or teams who utilize shorter pass plays like New Orleans, New England or Indy probably value ToP more than chunk yardage teams like Pitt, Washington, Atlanta and even Seattle or KC. Ultimately though more possessions equates to more opportunity. Teams that have high ToP are rarely the highest scoring teams in the league and often the very top teams have bad offenses
