I would love to see Malcom Brown with the 21st pick but his stock is rising right now and it doesn't look like he'll be available. Goldman is the consolation prize.

Rd 3. (85th)- Doran Grant CB 5'10¼" 200 Ohio State

I would love to get Holliman in the 4th, but I don't think realistically he makes it past the 3rd round, might even go as high as end of 2nd. Maybe one of the best FS in college football and we are talking about him going from late 2nd to 4th round. That is insane.

I had 2 of those in my mock with a hard decision to leave a third out of mine.

I just think we look more towards OT, with both Whitworth and Smith having contracts that end at the end of this year. Gives the rookie a year to work up to NFL speed, gives us leverage in negotiations near the end of the year with either Whitworth or Smith, and keeps protecting that slush of a QB we have. Besides, we need to keep opening holes for Hill, because that is the only way our offense stays competent for the time being.

I think the reason scouts are down on Holliman is because he ran a disappointing 4.68 and only has one year of starting experience. He's currently ranked as the 120th prospect on ESPN'S list with a similar showing on CBS sports as well. I personally view him as a 3rd round and it's possible some team will reach for him but I just slotted him by his rankings.

I got ya. It was not an issue, i would love to get him there. 1 year of experience, but 14 INT's in that one season? If he was just learning the position, imagine what he could do with some seasoning there?

4.68..that is not fast, but it is not slow either. I mean think about it.

In a sprint of 40 yards, one guy gets there in 4.28 BLAZING!!
In another case, a guy gets there less than 1/2 second behind him.

Is it really that bad for a FS who may have tremendous instincts and react to a play quicker than an average safety who runs 4.4? I mean, which is actually quicker to their spots on the field? The guy who reacts and reads the play faster but runs a tick slower, or the guy with overall speed, but only marginally faster?

Plus, a FS doesn't usually cover a guy one on one on a fly pattern. He is usually patrolling center field and reading and reacting to routes and the QB.

I think he is a gem in the making, just a tad raw and maybe doesn't have that top flight speed, but smarts and instincts are off the charts.

Holliman in my opinion is about a 7th round prospect. I might be exaggerating a bit but the guy is one of the worst tacklers I have ever seen. Yeah he put up some amazing interception numbers but he missed more tackles than he actually made. So all a team has to do is if he is in coverage throw a quick route to the receiver and watch them blow by him as he makes a piss poor attempt to act like he is not afraid of contact. Honestly I wouldn't touch the guy until at least the 5th round.

We need a LB early. If we don't get one, it was a huge mistake.
