WR is just not a need. Agree w/ your premise, but don't draft positions you don't need.

I disagree. I think Sanu will be best in the slot and that's where he'll eventually need to play. I'm not sold on Jones as the best solution as the number 2 receiver.

I also disagree with the approach toward the draft.... With the new collective bargaining agreement, draft picks are cheap. They remain cheap throughout the first four years of their career. Teams can now afford to spend draft picks on positions that aren't considered 'needs' if the talent fits the slot. Given how much FAs cost, you can't afford to spend money on a FA that doesn't fit a 'need.' Therefore, I think you patch up glaring needs in FA especially at positions that aren't traditionally valued in the draft. In our case that might mean going after a linebacker, safety and potentially some depth along the offensive and defensive lines (depending on who we lose). In the draft we take the prospect with the most promise.

I will hate it if we draft a WR. Terrible pick.

Have you seen an NFL game lately? The nature of the game has changed and we're now living in the era of 2,000 yd receivers and 5,000 yd QB's and the quickest way to the end zone is through the air. That's how Baltimore beat both Denver and New England. The simple fact is Bengals will most likely draft another WR early not only to complement Green but it appears that's how the draft will shake out. This year's draft is weak at RB but loaded at WR. There are no RB's worth taking with the 37th pick while there are at least 4 WR's worth the pick

WR
Cordarrelle Patterson WR 6'3" 205 Tennessee ranked 24th
Justin Hunter WR 6'4" 205 Tennessee ranked 28th
Keenan Allen WR 6'3" 206 California ranked 31st
Tavon Austin WR 5'8⅜" 173 West Virginia ranked 34th
DeAndre Hopkins WR 6'0⅝" 200 Clemson ranked 36th
Robert Woods WR 6'1" 190 USC ranked 42nd
Terrance Williams WR 6'2⅜" 201 Baylor ranked 45th

RB
Giovani Bernard RB 5'10" 205 North Carolina ranked 46th
Ed Lacy RB 5'10" 220 Alabama ranked 69th
Montee Ball RB 5'11" 210 Wisconsin ranked 81st
Le'veon Bell RB 6'2" 242 Michigan State ranked 87th

If nobody on the team can throw him the ball, then he's not going to be a huge upgrade over a healthy Sanu. If Sanu was in this draft, he'd go a lot sooner.

Also, if we don't do something about the damned running game, then Dalton is going to be f***ed, his days will be numbered.... which may not be a bad thing, but we'll see.

Just look how the good teams draft. New England and Baltimore both recently drafted two tight ends in one draft. If we did this, our board would explode because people would be arguing that we 'already have one.' Baltimore took a third round running back even though they have Ray Rice -- The guy provided some key carriers in last week's game.

BTW -- When we took Whitworth the old ESPN board almost came apart at the seems. Many tears were shed that day..... We have Levi Jones - We have Willie Anderson!!!

Um, no! I like Sanu but he fell in the draft because he ran a 4.67 40 time. If he were in this year's draft the results would be the same if not worst.

2012 draft selections
Mohamed Sanu* WR 6'1½" 211 Rutgers (grade-68) overall rank- 109th | drafted 83rd overall
Marvin Jones WR 6'1⅞" 191 California (grade- 67) overall rank-115th | drafted 166th overall

60-69 Good Prospect
This player is an good starter that will give a solid effort week in and week out, but he is overmatched versus the better players in the nation. His weaknesses will be exposed against top competition. He is usually a prospect that is missing something from his game. For example, he has the size and skills to be an outstanding prospect, but lacks the speed. He will usually rate in the top half of the players at his position and is considered a middle round draft choice.

2013 WR prospects
Cordarrelle Patterson WR 6'3" 205 Tennessee (grade-91) overall rank- 24th
Justin Hunter WR 6'4" 205 Tennessee (grade- 90) overall rank- 28th

90-100 Rare Prospect
Player demonstrates rare abilities and can create mismatches that have an obvious impact on the game. Is a premier college player that has all the skill to take over a game and play at a championship level. He rates in the top 5 players in the nation at his position and is considered a first round draft prospect.

Keenan Allen WR 6'3" 206 California (grade- 89) overall rank- 31st
Tavon Austin WR 5'8⅜" 173 West Virginia (grade- 88) overall rank- 34th
DeAndre Hopkins WR 6'0⅝" 200 Clemson (grade- 87) overall rank- 36th
Robert Woods WR 6'1" 190 USC (grade- 86) overall rank- 42nd
Terrance Williams WR 6'2⅜" 201 Baylor (grade- 85) overall rank- 45th

80-89 Outstanding Prospect
Player has abilities to create mismatches versus most opponents in the NFL. A feature player that has an impact on the outcome of the game. Cannot be shut down by a single player and plays on a consistent level week in and week out. He rates in the top 10 at his position and is considered a second round draft prospect.

You know Jerry Rice only ran a 4.71 40 right?

What was Tim Couch's rating? What about Tom Brady's?

Those rating don't mean shit. Stop basing your opinion on ESPN's ratings and use your own eyes for once. But you'd actually have to watch football for that.

If those TN receivers are that damned good... they will be gone by the time we pick, so we'll have nothing to worry about.

good lord.

Like I say, if you have a good player staring you in the face... you take him, but otherwise, you have about 4 or 5 players with about equal talent staring you in the face, you take the one you need.

also, don't pick and choose data to back up your point.
Mohamed Sanu silences doubters with 40-yard dash at Rutgers Pro Day | newjerseynewsroom.com

Like I say, if a special player is staring at the right time, we take him. But WR is not a need, we don't need to reach for it.

Shut your mouth, cunthead!

Note: This isn't a personal attack, because that's my name.

I'm also internet dating a linebacker from a top 20 program.
