me either
I didn't build my team for a 2k16 sim, otherwise I would have just drafted players who had the most value at the time. I tried to build a roster that would be well rounded and suited to what I wanted my team to do. There were more talented players available at most of my picking slots, but I chose fit over rating.
Tony Parker - 82
Giannis Atempokunpo - 84
Nicholas Batum - 79
Chandler Wilson - 77
Omir Asik - 74
Trey Burke - 73
Kevin Martin - 73
Ron Artest - 70
Nick Collison 72
Willie Cauley-Stein - 74
Today... 75.8
Today this team is built to run... Parker is still a speedy PG who can be the main ball handler however as proven his entire career he can allow Giannis to begin to take over as the star... Defensively I have 3 studs in Giannis, Batum and Asik with Willie, Artest and Collison all bringing different types of defensive philosophies to help... Willie, Giannis and Batum will learn a ton from Artest, Collison and Asik defensively... Trey is going to learn from Parker, Kevin Martin will help teach Giannis, Batum and Trey about getting to the line... I think I have a great blend of solid young talent, great defense, great perimeter scoring and veteran leadership... I believe this to be a playoff team coming out the west...
The future...
PG - Burke
SG - Giannis
SF - Batum
PF - Chandler
C - Big Willie
I believe Giannis is going to be a star by this time... He will be the playmaker surrounded by 3 shooters and a defensive Center who will be dominant as well... Another GM has questions about Chandler handling the 4 due to size... My question is who's going to make him pay...? The majority of teams have begun to utilize the stretch 4 and I have one of the best out there... IMO I should be a favorite to win it all in 3 years...
Giannis would be more likely to guard your 4, than Chandler, imo. Giannis doesn't seem to me like a good bet to develop much of an outside shot, but he could be a more athletic version of Draymond Green if he keeps linear improvement.
Me too.
And I don't think the 2K teams would fit well together at all. No offense @femurov , I just can't see that group co-existing in real life. Not enough shooting, and 2016 Kobe actually hurts his team more than he helps it. The 2K rating is more about his name brand and what he has accomplished over time.
Thanks for posting that @wildturkey. I am a little surprised my Wizards have the top rating here since I have never played 2K and built my team with pieces that fit.
What is more surprising to me though, is that not even 1 person has said they like my team for 2016. I honestly think my squad is hands down number 1 for this year. I have the best defense, the best bench, and pieces that fit well.
This whole thing is subjective.
I'm not sure how this voting process will occur.
Will we only get to vote for 1 team?
I like your Team.
But, I like City Sushi's Team better, offensively.
Defensively?
Yeah,......your squad can shut shit down.
Say we get 3 votes each for Present and future....
Your Team would be in my top 3 for Present.
But, not for future.
I don't think Duncan or Manu will be playing.
Jrue is a middle of the road pg now.
In 3 years, He could get lapped by guys like Russell and Mudiay too.
Morrow is a 3 pts specialist, and who doesn't need those?
But, he and Thabo will be 20 minute or less guys in 3 years.
I made the decision that I was going for today when I took Duncan in round 2. At that moment, there was no going back. I agree my team won't be that good in 3 years. They would probably be a lower tier playoff team because of Leonard, but they won't be contending. It is all about today, and possibly next season if Duncan and Manu come back.
Okay! So I went through the draft topic to get all the picks for people that have yet to post their teams so I could complete the NBA 2k16 player rating comparison. Since it sounds like no one has the game and/or is willing to take the time (understandable) to set up rosters for a full season sim, this is as close as we're going to get. Either way, it's just an extra piece of tangible data to help everyone understand how they did.
The Real 2K Insider: Official NBA 2K16 Player Ratings - Full List w/ Season Updates
I used the rankings from this site. It has the rosters from the game as of March 18 (the last update). All I did was add up every player's individual score and divide by 10 (the roster size). As you can see, the numbers look close but they kind of aren't. Decimals make a difference here. So a team that's 78.2 and one that's 78.0 are reasonably close. But one that's 77.2 isn't all that close to the 78.2 team. That difference is basically a player with a rating of 80 (ie Brandon Knight) to one that's a 90 (ie Chris Paul). So as you can see, fairly big difference in player talent.
Two things of note:
*The Magic are likely worse off than they appear. If you look at their roster, they are all guards outside of Towns. The fit is just terrible. I'd post everyone's rosters for a clearer picture but it'd take too much room.
**The Sixers took Dario Saric but he's not in the 2k game therefore he doesn't have a rating. So I just made the gut call to give him a 70 since that seems to be the base rating for any halfway usable NBA player. Got a problem with it? Too bad! Convince Saric to play where we can see him and we'll change it.
And now, the rankings:
Wizards 78.8
