I think it just comes down to each individuals threshold for optimism lol

Our record is plenty within reach to achieve our preseason goals, and though I'm pissed off a lot of the time we have managed to win ten of the last fifteen games. It's not a 14-game win streak but still a good trend moving forward.

I agree that is a great win % of .666

But are they capable of sustaining that ( or near that ) and NOT falling into a 5-6-7 game skid?

I am pulling like hell for them as I would LOVE to see some more Oct ball here in Seattle.

Time will tell and yes they have it within their grasp. But a lot needs corrected in the current play ( base running blunders - sloppy defense etc etc )
and they need a slugging shot in the arm to stroll into the clubhouse real soon ( be it Julio and Geno ) turning things around or a new face $$$

On May 17th, 2022 the Mariners lost a game to Toronto putting them to a 16-21 record.

As of today they are 21-21 which is five wins better, also five more played to this point, than last year on this day. The sky is not falling even though the expectations going into the year has dictated a large amount of the frustration IMO. They went on to make a huge deal to land Castillo last year, and it's hard to imagine that they don't do the same thing for a bat this year. The pitching makes the rough team start a little less concerning but do need these guys to at least play up to their baseball card at the plate. Win today and they take yet another series, still an upward trajectory even if the expectation to performance value has been underwhelming thus far.

Put it this way, how concerned would you be if the Seahawks were 2-2 to start the season? Would the season be falling with even less margin for error in a shorter season? I would be plenty fine if the Hawks start 2-2, this is where the Mariners are currently at to start their season.

Can’t really compare baseball to football though. But I’ll try to use an analogy. Say the Seahawks are 2-2, have an obvious hole that they need filled and have struck out on every single attempt to fill that hole, what is your confidence level that magically the next trade will work out? Especially considering their top guy to trade is now on the roster and IMO the other two guys to trade for a significant bat are untradable. No question the Mariners are built for a playoff series but offensively they are not built to get there.
