He has been hitting .333 since July 1, but if he maintains this pace (and gets 4 AB/G for the remaining 48 games) he'll hit .289 for the season. So - I guess he'll have to pick it up even more.

Though I guess if he rips a hit in each of his next 20 at bats, he can reach .300 real quick - I just don't expect that to happen....

Good defense and a good bat, I don't think anyone expects him to be a superstar. Just 20-25 HRs with a .260-.270 BA.

I'd like to see him be more patient at the plate though.

That's about what I expect as well... Before the season, you would'a thought he was going to the HOF though the way Mariner fan's talked about him... I thought he'd be a bit better than he has already shown this season, so he's been a disappointment to me imo... IOW's, I don't feel like he's improved or digressed...

I always viewed him as a very good solid player for the team... Just got tired of the local radio show hyping him up to be the next George Brett...

Yeah, I always thought Seagar had outperformed his potential a long time ago. He's always been a .260-.270 hitter with 20+ HR power. I don't think that there's too much more in the production from him that Seattle will get, he just is what he is.

That's the mediocre effect. When you're mediocre for so long, getting someone who is actually good makes you feel like he's great.

Seagar has been pretty mediocre with guys on base this year.

What a fucking joke. Zunino can't even lay down a bunt. The guy needs to get sent down. We could replace him with a journeyman.

They're gonna eventually run out of people to put in the Mariners HOF and then what? Moyer was probably the last of it.... Because that's what being used to bring fans in. No worries, PR will continue to find ways to shove '95 down our fucking throats.

So I didn't get a chance to watch any of the game, but was looking at the posts here and thinking we must have got smoked again. Then saw the score. :wtf: I mean I see they gave up like 3 in the 8th so I'm assuming that's where the consternation is coming from, but was surprised to see that final score lol.

I love Rodney's new approach. Just throw it over the middle of the plate and hope the hard hit ball is right at someone!

Silvy just said this is the first time since they expanded to 30 teams that 15 home teams all won on the same day. Crazy huh?

3 games went to extras and one was a marathon. 8 of the 15 games were decided by 2 runs or less.
Crazy night in baseball indeed.

1st priority in the offseason is find a catcher. I feel even if we had an adequate catcher we might still be in the wild card race

I understand criticism of Zunino, but he's not the reason we're out of any race.

If the priority is to make the wild card race or playoffs, there are about a dozen more pressing issues to address.

I'm all for looking for a new everyday catcher, but catcher is the most important position on any MLB team defensively. Please stop with the ignorant statements.

If we get another catcher, the priority would be for one with equal/nearly equal defense, and better offense. The pickings for that are slim on the FA market and for trades, but a competent GM could do it.

Zunino is fine at catcher, IF he was the only one having issues this year at the plate (or even one of two). The Mariners have so many issues with their offense, that Zunino is just highlighted even more. Only Seagar, Cano and Cruz have performed better than the league average at their positions this year (offensively). Zunino's offense is bad, but we're getting bad offense from 1B, SS, LF, CF & DH.
