Bleh, tough one to go to. Hurdle leaves me scratching my head several times a game.
So he has a man on 2nd with no outs and bunts to bring Burnett up. I was on the move during that inning so I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that happened. Either his faith in Barmes is so low that he needs pinch hit for in those spots or he has a lot more faith than me in Burnett in handling the bat.
It also seemed to me Burnett was laboring in the 6th, then he came out and gave up a bomb that was the difference in the game there. Hard to fault Hurdle there, but the crowd stood up for Burnett when the 6th ended. It seemed like we all thought that was it for AJ. I know I did.
That said, these pitchers are getting it done. Just ran into an ace today, one of the best. 8th in the NL in ERA, despite having Jonathan Sanchez's ERA bloating performances. Most walks in the NL though and that is what keeping the pitching from being near the top. The reinforcements (Liriano, Morton, and Karstens) are getting closer though, not sure they will offer an upgrade in control, though.
