Tough loss. Gotta score more than 2 runs against a guy like Urquidy, especially down in Houston. Offense has been pretty poor since the ASB. Can point the finger at a lot of guys, but Winker and Suarez in particular need to start picking it up. Winker has been such a huge disappointment this season.

Need to actually get there before worrying about how well they will do there.

I think the point I was trying to make is that these guys still need to learn how to win against tough teams. You don’t want to be learning that when it gets there. Maybe these losses are good now and will destroy these teams later on.

So color me unimpressed right now if they handle teams like the Rangers.

They aren't in their league. That's reality. There are 4 teams above .600 and the M's play 2 of them this week. They won't play .500 ball against either. Really no one is.

M's lack the depth more than experience for these. If Jerry doesn't add anything I'd put their odds of just getting in at maybe 51%.

Julio misses a few games and we ended up with Toro and Moore on the field. If either play more than 10 games the rest of the season my odds drop to 40%. It isn't a playoff worthy team with guys hitting .177 starting games.

These last 7 games have me convinced we should go all-in on Soto. We absolutely must get another universally dangerous bat in this lineup. I'd be cool with them giving up anything short of Julio or Gilbert, at this point. If it can get them Ohtani, instead, I'd be ok with Gilbert, I think.

Problem is they need a bat and a pitcher. If they do the Soto trade I’m not sure they have enough to get a pitcher unless it is another Anderson type pitcher (though he turned out really great for them except the last 2 outings) they need a starter or another high leverage bullpen arm because Gilbert and Kirby’s pitch limits are going to put extra pressure on the bullpen.

They are nearly hitting him 50% of the time as a team.

And, now with the bases juiced those numbers are about to go up even more.

He fucking can't pitch against these guys. Like ever again.

I wish Felix could have kept on pitching like Verlander. It's kind of sad how his career flamed out. Felix is three years younger too.

Need to? No, not really. It would be nice, but it's not necessary to accomplish the goal of making the postseason. Just get these games over with and don't let them become a cloud over the more winnable series the rest of the year.

Fact is the Astros are just better than the Mariners right now. Oh well. The White Sox, Guradians, Rays, Red Sox, and Rangers aren't, and that's more important this season.
