Move OKC to the East (Conference Realignment)

OKC being in the "Northwest Division" is a joke

It's long overdue for a move. OKC is way more East than it is West. Plus giving the East a quality contender and a chance to fuel the Lebron vs KD rivalry with some epic playoff battles...the nba fans would thoroughly enjoy that. Also helps the East as a whole overall.

Ha the West would love that! Okc is not more East than West. Not by a long shot. Okc is 3 hours from Dallas straight North. Memphis would be the team to make sense logistically.

Both New Orleans and Memphis are further East. Hell, even Houston is further East. Moving OKC to the East doesn't make sense, especially since you will get your match ups when KD leaves for the Wizards next year anyways

Lol okc in the east makes no sense. Only in the north west because they were in Seattle during the last realignment. They're really supposed to be in the southwest. Really not a big deal

For some reason I thought OKC was a lot further East. NW division does need to get shaken up or renamed though. But then again divisions in the NBA doesn't carry nearly as much weight as divisions in the NFL...or at least not in recent history

Actually, Memphis is pretty bad against the Eastern playoff teams having only a 4-5 record against them and only having a winning record against Miami and Charlotte, the 7 and 8 seed currently (they haven't played the Wiz yet).

So? A 7 game series in the playoffs is much different from a random 9 game sample size of spread out games over the course of the reg season. Memphis would walk through these EC teams minus ATL & CLE.

This is all the more reason they should just get rid of conferences in the NBA. Top 16 teams in. Even up the schedules. It opens the door for more rivalries and would balance EVERYTHING out better imo.

Keep divisions if you want to reward division winners as the top 6 teams as locks to make it (as proposed by Silver) and just rid yourself of conferences. Top 6 division winners then next best 10 teams = more exciting NBA.

Milwaukee is the only one that I can think of that could pass as a west team. More so than Memphis IMO.

I agree. But even that is a stretch… I just really hope they get rid of conferences altogether.
