Maybe a drafted RB is still needed but not an early round RB. I'm good with going into the season with the backs we have. McFadden proved me wrong and Murray has shown to be a 1000 yard back, throw in Dunbar and it's all good.I guess I will be honest and say that this must be a depth move. we still need to draft a runner.
I think it is more signing guys that can help us and filling holes to allow us to draft BPA. While that could be QB I have a feeling it won't be.I'm just hoping this hire, along with the DE means that dallas is building up some temporary depth so they can snag wentz or goff in the draft
The way I see it, DMac and Dunbar were good last year, and are back. Is Morris gonna supply more than Randle did? Resounding yes IMO
Morris signing helps significantly, if this happens.
Cowboys' Lance Dunbar: Could begin season on PUP list
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire
The Dallas Cowboys aren't yet sure when Lance Dunbar (torn ACL) will be able to resume football activities, and he could begin the regular season on the PUP list, Rob Phillips of DallasCowboys.com reports.
If that were the case, Dunbar would be required to miss the first six weeks of the season, but the progress of his recovery from the knee injury that ended his 2015 campaign should become clearer once training camp draws closer.
I will say 99% chance Dallas doesn't go RB in the 1st or 2nd, doubtful in the 3rd also. This is a good move and all, but we still need a third reliable back. This just feels good to us fans because this shows Dallas actually has a plan at RB in 2016 unlike last year. Hopefully this takes us out of the running for drafting RB in the first.

I'm okay with that, as long as we target a realistic third RB to groom. Two of the three RBs on the squad at the moment have been known to miss a lot of game time.I will say 99% chance Dallas doesn't go RB in the 1st or 2nd, doubtful in the 3rd also.
Dunbar is likely to be MIA in weeks 1-6.1) McFadden
2) Morris
3) Dunbar
I don't think we've heard that is likely, more that it's possible. But, he;ll still be here at some point. So if you add a 4th RB (5th including FB) what do you do when Dunbar comes back? I'm not saying we won't bring in another RB, but I wouldn't go out of my way to say we have to do it just to end up having to cut/sit one of them.Dunbar is likely to be MIA in weeks 1-6.
And I also wouldn't hang my hat on Dunbar playing a lot this year. Do you err on the side of caution in this case or throw caution to the wind? Due to the timeline of his injury, the draft will be over by the time we can gauge effectively if he will be put on the PUP list. ACLs coupled with MCLs are typically not NFL ready in under a years time. Then you combine that with a few other factors such as the type of back he is and how necessary it is that he be fully recovered before he tries to juke people full speed. I'd rather we have plan C in place to start the year and if we have to cut a FB once Dunbar gets off the PUP then so be it. Chances are by week 6 this team will have a roster spot due to another injury that he can come back.I don't think we've heard that is likely, more that it's possible. I like the pick up as well. Perfect for this line.Cheap depth move for a durable guy to throw into the mix? What's not to like? Also means we don't have to spend a 3rd/4th on an RB. Go D first 2 picks and then whatever we want after that.
