How on earth did they come to the conclusion that Steve Moore would have ever made that kind of money in the remainder of his career?
I was watching somebody discuss this last night and it boiled down to the age of Moore at the time (25) combined with the fact that he is Harvard educated. Looking at similar types of situations, they ran the numbers and came up with a likely settlement number in the 20-30 million dollar range.

Exactly, I assume his argument stemmed more from the fact that the injury has prevented him from using his education to tackle new opportunities that would normally be afforded an individual with a Harvard education.
I have a feeling that Gary Bettman is pleased today, yeah they doled out some money to Steve Moore, but now they don't have to endure a 4 month long trial (that was how long people were speculating the trial would last) where the NHL's name would have been dragged through the mud.

On November 8, 2005, Moore's Toronto-based lawyer, Tim Danson, said that Moore was skating and doing regular workouts, but continued to suffer concussion-related symptoms.[4] He continued working out for some years afterward, but had to abandon his comeback attempt when it became apparent he would never be medically cleared to return to the ice again.
I haven't read back yet but has anybody mentioned that POS Matt Cooke?
Okay, I can see a little better how they got the number, but ...
From Wikipedia:
To say he can't use his Harvard Education to earn a living implies total disability. Trying to come back to hockey the very next year indicates far less than total disability. And I would wonder if his comeback attempt compounded his injury issues.
