All that said, I think that this lawsuit is a joke. You know the risks of playing hockey when you step out on the ice. This whole thing really just needs to be put to rest.

Hackbart v. Cincinnati Bengals set a precedent that if rules are in place to prevent infliction of intentional and dangerous blows, athletes are not assumed to have accepted the risks or to have given consent to be subjected to such battery.

Don't know the Canadian precedent, but that's the law south of the border.

I don't expect Moore to be awarded the full 20 million. However, I'll be surprised if he doesn't get at least 10 million. That is if they don't settle out of court.

I honestly hope Bertuzzi has to pay through the nose. It's been a long time coming.

If you know the secret for rehabbing post-concussion syndrome, maybe you should let Crosby and Savard in on the secret too. And Lindros. And Kariya. And McAmmond. And Lafontaine. And boxers. And everyone else, even if they didn't have a broken neck that required wearing a fucking brace for a year.

only for press conferences.

only for press conferences.

By all means, break three of Bertuzzi's vertebrae and tell us how long it takes for him to heal. Just don't cry at your own press conference out of remorse after you do it.

Did Naslund come out of his coma yet, by the way? :rolleyes2:

Yes, it did, and no, he wasn't.

He was a rookie who was getting 15 minutes a night on a team with 10 straight division titles. He was improving. He even scored that night and won a fight despite being under significant pressure from both the media and the Canucks - the mark of a player with potential.

If I had asked you about Daniel Sedin when he was in his sophomore season, you probably would've called his 9 goals in 79 games a sign of a "fucking scrub" as well, but there's this thing called maturation.

Would Steve Moore have won an Art Ross in his career too? I don't know; some "fucking scrub" hockey team conspired to injure him, hence the appropriate lawsuit.

I could be wrong Q, but Moore was at best going to be a 3rd line center (as his CEILING) if he kept "improving" like you say. Most had him pegged as a good checking 4th line center ala Yelle (if memory serves me correctly). I think Puck (and many Vancouver/Hockey fans in general) crossed the line a little calling him a scrub, but you equating him to a high 1st round draft pick is crossing the line in the other direction.....although that may be your intention to prove a point.....don't really know you well enough.

It's unfortunate what happened to the kid and Bertuzzi is still a prick.....but I think you're sensationalizing the situation in the other direction.

I said the same thing about Kris Draper after Lemieux broke his $1 ass. Eight years later, he was the Selke winner.

We live in a world where Corey Perry became the MVP; what the fuck do any of us know about a player's ceiling?

Hey pal, no need to rub my nose in it, ya?

;)

Also, re: Moore, I get what you're saying, and in essence, you're right (as far as what do we REALLY know about ceilings).....that said, we'll have to agree to disagree on this one. From what (admittedly the very little) I saw, the kid was a 4th line checking center with some scoring punch.....and there's NOTHING wrong with that. He also didn't/doesn't deserve the ire he gets nor the chickenshit/coward response he got from Bertuzzi.

We're not really in disagreement; I don't think Steve Moore was Art Ross bound or anything, but he wasn't packing his bags for Hershey, PA either. At worst, I think he would've taken Toronto for Jeff Finger money later on, so the $20 million doesn't seem too far off. :p

So much for the 2012 start date...

Finally scheduled to begin on Sept. 24 in Ontario, the trial in the lawsuit of former Avalanche forward Steve Moore against Todd Bertuzzi, the Vancouver Canucks and Marc Crawford now has been rescheduled — officially “adjourned” — to Jan. 28, 2013.

The defense requested and was granted the latest delay.

If it indeed begins as scheduled on that late January date, it is unclear how Bertuzzi’s still-playing status with the Detroit Red Wings would be handled. In theory, I suppose he could be present for part(s) of the trial and not others. I’m assuming it wouldn’t be shocking if it were pushed back again, to after the season.

Q you are fuckin awesome, I was gonna blast these same fuckin retards for their ignorant comments to this thread but you were way more eloquent, lol. Saying Bertuzzi is even a fuckin worthwhile hockey player is a fuckin joke in itself.. No wonder no one takes these wanna be hockey fans serious, get your fuckin heads out of stat guides and actually watch a hockey game...

Obviously you always ask for more than you think you'll get especially if you hope to settle beforehand ( which if both sides dont want they're farking crazy).

Moore’s expert list will include hockey executives who will say that he would have blossomed into a top-six forward.

:laugh3:

Which experts would these be exactly?
