So, according to our numbers, the Steelers are about 1.5 mil under the cap. So, before we can do anything, we need to shave some cap space. We can "restructure" one player's contract as long as they are in the last 2 years of their contract. This will cut their base salary in half, so we would save that much in space. Cam Heyward is the most expensive player that fits that bill, so I could restructure him and save 4.75 mil.

We can also outright release players. That would save us however much is in the "cap savings" section on overthecap. Link is below.

Mark Barron $5,250,000
Vance McDonald $5,672,500
Anthony Chickillo $5,000,000

We could also try to trade these guys before cutting them. Maybe someone gives up a mid to late pick for one or more of them. Once we get a little cap space, we need to look at RFAs and ERFAs for tendering them. And, we can slap a franchise tag and transition tag on any UFAs that we have (I'm thinking Bud Dupree is the only one worth it).

Nelson was just signed and played awesome. They're not touching him. Mark Barron should be cut, restructured or moved.

chickillo also needs restructured.
