I know we didn't want him, but we couldn't even afford him if we did. That really puts it into perspective. We couldn't afford a Tyler O'Neill level player.
I can't wait for opening day...Mariners score 1 run on 3 hits, lose 2-1 and hopefully get booed off the field

I hope there isn't enough people there to boo or do the wave.
Opening day be sold out but by May 6th that could be the case. Honestly if they make low level moves that don't have any impact, I hope the fans raise hell than stop going to the games.

Yes but it won't happen. Those people don't care about the game. They just want a place to gather. Screws the true fans.

Safco and CBP are kind of mirror image of each other that there's things to do at the ballpark besides watching the games. Phillies started flailing a few years after their WS victory and a bad product on the field. Even the casual fans started staying away and that hit the owners pockets of less money generated. They listened, started to spend money and now can compete for a WS even with an idiot of a manager. The same can happen in Seattle with an 80 to 85% empty stadium to force them to spend money on players to bring fans back or sell the team.

But there are more casual fans than diehard fans in this area. Look as this board. We have maybe 10 that are regulars. That is very small, but I understand why. They made us this way.

Agree with @NWinAZ. Seattle is just different. They renovated TMobile back in the day to be basically a hang out park. So much in that park is designed for people who don’t care about the Mariners. Not sure if they kept it after the backlash but they were letting people in the gates earlier for those who were headed to the bars but refuse to allow children in to watch the Mariners take BP.

There isn’t a real way to make it hurt their wallets but we could humiliate them by not having fans sell out all the rememberance days of the 95 and 01 teams.

The casual fan can get pissed when prices go up and shit product is still on the field.

That is the thing. They don't care. It is like gathering at a bar to watch a game and the beer is shitty. They don't complain about the beer because the gathering is the event. It is a well done beer garden for the casual fan. The product don't matter. The cost of beer don't matter. The environment is all that matters to them. We are the fools.

See I disagree about the casual fans. Seahawks have a rabid fan base. Huskies have a rabid fan base and Sonics used to have a rabid fan base.
Yes the PNW is more laid back than us east coast people cause we're always angry and your traffic makes me go ape shit but there are plenty of die hard fans and if this upcoming season falls off the rails early, you'll see maybe 10k in the seats.

The beer garden doesn't hold 48k fans. The beer garden might be maxed out but Nat TV shows an almost empty stadium with a team of crap and under 500

You are comparing apples to oranges. Baseball is a marathon. Fans are more social vs the other sports. Action is slower. Bring your family. It is just so different. I went to seahawks games for 10 straight years. Every game and that is being 2 hours away. I would never do more than 10 games with the Mariners even in my diehard years. How I act, who I go with, it is all different. Back east they have that football mentality for baseball. This is more of a...well...beer garden event. Not sure how else to compare it. Nothing wrong with that, but they want sun and fun. And if a game is playing behind them, even better. Not everybody but enough that pays their bills.

I will agree with the Husky football fans, but college sports is entirely different. Will disagree with the Seahawks and Sonics but my views on those fanbases are my critique of Seattle sports fans in general. But the Mariners ownership has the ability to make TMobile park more like Lumen Field circa 2012-15 but are making it Key Arena circa 2006-2008 except they get the Hipsters in drinking overpriced IPA’s. I will say I don’t blame them for weekday games against Tampa but with more investment into the team every weekend TMobile could be rocking and forcing parents/grandparents into buying merchandise for their kids and grandkids.

If you want the biggest indictment of Seattle sports fans is go to an elementary school/JR/HS and look at the hats and jerseys the boys wear.

I could burn down the beer garden. That's a start.

I'm guessing more Dodgers/Lakers/Cowboys merch kids wearing? Better not be any University of Puddles bullshit.

I have mentioned before that I went to Wrigley years back and that was a beer garden in the outfield but 100% a baseball place as well. Loved it. All of Wrigleyville was into their team. It was magical for a baseball fan.
