Most people think Ripken is great bc of his durability, he had a pretty good MVP year (the 2nd one) but other than his longevity and durability...seriously what has he done?

Is it bc they won the WS? Bc he hit a measly .167 in that series. He is actually a very good postseason hitter, far better than in the regular season. He just has pedestrian numbers...like I said before, nothing against him---he is a good guy---reality is he was just vastly overrated.

I mean why is he a great to you? top 50 player? I'm just not seeing it.

I said at Short Stop not talking batting. I’m talking top 10 easy as best defensive short stop.

Hell I just took Ozzie Smith. So again defense player which people forget about in these drafts. With all these high averaging hitters it might be wise to take some players who can also play defense.

I didn't know we were talking about defense...defense? We are talking about defense? lol

Yeah if we are talking defense he is in the top 10 but not as an overall player.

Yeah, I agree defense isn't focused on enough especially in the drafts where you can't load up. But in these open drafts I don't see a huge need for defense...still underrated imo

Well I never really look at defensive WAR but here you go for SS...

1. Ozzie
2. Belanger
3. Ripken
4. Tinker
5. Aparicio
6. Omar
7. Dahlen
8. Simmons
9. Pee Wee
10. George Davis

This really doesn't say everything though bc Omar was BY FAR a better defender and it wasn't close and a lot of those other guys were just as good if not better. That is just one stat though

Luis Aparicio
Omar Vizquel
Tony Fernandez
Ozzie Smith
Dave Concepcion
Lou Boudreau
Mark Belanger
Joe Tinker
Andrelton Simmons
Pee Wee Reese

Belanger sold shoes in the off-season at our local sporting goods store - hence why you see a disproportionate amount of O's fans from our city

Nos can you tag the newbies and let them know it would wise to take a backup catcher for the bench.
