In the juicing seasons or before or after?
career wise... Do we know when the juicing even started??

Mark McGwire overcame more than most because he is ginger. That should factor in.
Ted Williams, hands down, running away. Ted hit for power while also hitting for average. If Williams were willing to sacrifice average down to .260 and try and hit bombs, he could have hit 60 a year...without a NeedleI agree with this to a point... I would still say McGwire is one of the best power hitters of all time... even if he is not even close to being one of the best hitters of all time...
Who do you feel more comfortable to hit the HR, Ted Williams or Mark McGwire?? when you need the HR, the ONLY player I would rather have is Bonds...

I thought that might have been low too, so I compared them. Interestingly, if you take out the two bullcrap seasons(understanding he had others), Mac had virtually the same # of AB's as Howard. He did walk more, otherwise, it's the same guyIdk about that low but he isn't in the top couple tiers of 1st baseman IMO.
