Willie was an All Star 20 times, playing in two games 4 times does not make him $24. Did Pujols have an AB prior to 2000?

Pick is in... That's pretty confusing... I actually picked Mays with my first pick and went back to see the price so I could post it and saw 24 and thought that meant 29... How do I know who else has that situation... All I saw was how many Allstars total...

My mistake was looking on Wikipedia and it said Mays had 24 all stars. Should have went to baseball reference and counted to 20.

Why? You just keep him in on your defense

of course, but what positions do you care most about defense?? CF, SS, C are the big 3... so we should all have great defenders there, even if it is on our bench... So basically you are paying the 25 for his offense... and thing is, he is not a top 5 hitter of all time... Definitely top 5 player, but not top 5 offensive player...

But I don't think defense will factor in as much as lineup and pitching or bullpen. It just adds another dimension to the draft but it is least important IMO

I like that hopefully this forces all of us to concentrate on defense at least a little bit... This way bench has an opportunity to actually mean something.

So Babe Ruth whose debut was before 1933 is eligible but for a higher cost. However everyone else before 1933 or after 2001 are not eligible for a higher cost? I disagree with this only because I didn't take Ruth, damn you again UK. I am happy with my leadoff hitter Raines and #3 hitter (maybe) Bagwell combined salary for only $11m.

Didn't clearly make my point.

A player like Mays is so valuable because he is not just an elite offensive bat but he is also an elite defender who plays a premium position.

But this draft we are separating the offense with the defense. So yes you of course would have him both offensively AND Defensively. But because he plays the most important defensive position WE WILL ALL HAVE AN ELITE DEFENSIVE CF. so you are paying ONLY for his offense. Which he is not as elite as other similar priced players.

Yeah I guess if you look at it like that. I just think defense will be mean some but not much honestly but it does hurt Mays from what you are saying. Idk lol

I have no clue what the rule is about bench and nos already tried to explain to me. So are bench players only playing defense and not hitting?

You can use your bench for whatever you want, this draft is just giving you the opportunity to use some defensive players who might otherwise not be drafted.

I also disagree with Milk, there are 5 players on the bench not everyone is gonna use one of them in CF, and even if they did Willie is still one of the best fielding CF's of all time so he is worth every $ I spent on him.

Nobody who started in 2000 - 2016 is eligible, everyone who is a HOFer who started their career prior to 1933 is eligible and will cost $25. Players NOT in the HOF who began their career prior to 1933 are NOT eligible.
