MLB 1977 Player Draft

Been sitting here, holding my breath, hoping no one will take my guy, and surprised he's still there, only to double check that he's really the right choice and notice his last season was 1976. Not sure how I missed it this long.

The only good thing to come of this is that I seriously considered trying to trade up for him.

Knee is doing a lot better then yesterday. I have ditched the crutches and onto a pimped out Cain. Hope the students at school think it's cool.

Thanks on Frank. He was my fav player growing up and I have tons of his baseball cards. He never really made it to all star status but was still a great player. This draft has been extremely hard but we all are still pulling out gems once in awhile making it fun. So glad that we are finally back to drafting.

Also, thought long and hard about Bobby Bonds, but just couldn't accept acquiring all those strike outs.

I figured Denny would be there on the way back. Nice pick. He and Tanana were right up there at the top of my list.

Not big on Bobby's Ks, but there isn't another guy with his speed, power and defense.

Yeah, I had Martinez on my list for a couple rounds further down, but would've loved to have him. Sometimes it's interesting to see how other people value the players they take - just as I'm sure others look at my choices and think I valued mine differently.

Awe, Dennis Martinez, MLB career wins leader among pitchers who never won more than 16 games in a season.

Dennis was dominate on some shitty teams. He would have been an instant HOFer if on NYY, LAD, PIT, KCR or any of the dominate teams in the 70's or 80's.

It was Bonds GGs that sold me in the end. But being a 30/30 guy FOUR times didn't hurt. His OBP didn't either.

Kind of played before his time really.

(You know Tram and Lou should both be in there. Second best at their respective positions, in this draft. Even better together.)
