Well, in his defense, it isn’t like he switched into some bum. He was guarding Steph.

And I don’t know Rodney Hood that well as a player, but guarding Steph off the ball takes an insane amount of discipline and attention to detail. Guarding KD on the ball is an impossible task for anybody, but not nearly as intellectually difficult.

So maybe LeBron, the coach on the floor, thought Hood was better equipped to guard KD on the ball than Steph off of it.

I can tell you one thing for sure though. It is crazy to think LeBron made that switch out of fear. He surely had a strategical reason for doing what he thought gave his team the best chance at a stop. It just didn’t work because KD rose up and made a tough shot.
