As bad as Cutler is.....he's leaps and bounds better than the QB's Chicago had before he got there. In recent history, not like forever.

Cutler played fairly well and didn't fuck things up tonight......Jordan Howard had a heck of a night.

That was probably the best game I've ever seen from Cutler. He didn't have great stats with 250 yds, 1 TD but he was efficient at 65% comp %, and had no INT's, no fumbles and only 1 sack. Very impressive for his first game of the year vs what everyone was calling the best defense in the NFL. Bears and Panthers will be playing the upset role down in the second half.

My team is better than average and would be a wild card if the season ended today but luckily the season is not over yet there is hope for improvement. The Vikes were exposed in Philly. If the D does not score a few TDs it is hard to win with a lower ranked offense and bad oline. Can the Vikes fix that yet time will tell. Luckily the Bears didnt hand the ball over 4 times like the Pack did back in week 2.

If the Pack can hang on to the ball in the rematch in Dec in GB they will have a chance to win.

Just about halfway into the season and only 3 teams you can say are without a question out of it.

Cutler was terrific tonight. A 100.5 rating is very good, but he played even better than that. Jeffery flat out dropped a TD pass that would have made the rating higher. Sometimes you have to look beyond stats. There were a number of times where Cutler was under pressure and skillfully moved around to avoid the pressure, and made throws from awkward angles that were big plays. The type of plays that less skilled QBs simply cannot make. He did a TREMENDOUS job against the #1 rated defense. A big statement from Cutler tonight that he is still the QB for the Bears.

All the people that said that the Bears were better off with Hoyer look silly tonight. Hoyer put up pretty stats, but again sometimes you have to look beyond stats. The Bears were 1-4 under Hoyer and he couldn't even beat the Jaguars at home. There were a few games in which he missed WIDE open TD passes, including one in Dallas that would have won the game in the final minute. Hoyer just was not getting it done despite the nice stats, so the QB controversy was silly. You saw the difference Cutler made tonight. There is no comparison between Cutler and Hoyer. It's just a shame Cutler got injured. The Bears would be better than 2-6 right now had he been in there the last several games. Tonight you saw the potential of this Bears team. They can go on a run in the 2nd half to get to 8-8, but obviously it won't be enough to make the playoffs. Doing that would give optimism for next season though.

I don't know if the Bears are gonna move on from Cutler after this season. IF they do, tonight was a great audition for Cutler on the national stage. A lot of coaches saw his incredible skill set tonight and realized that he would be a nice upgrade for their team. As Gruden said, Cutler simply has not had the continuity and protection in his Bears career. A truly hard luck player. He's done pretty well in difficult situations. I still say he can be a top QB if he has the right situation around him. There have been QBs that have had their best seasons late like Rich Gannon and Carson Palmer.
