what we thought all along is true. There will be no Mike Stoops fellas.
No announcement yet on Nebraska naming a replacement for Carl Pelini, but Athletic Director Tom Osborne said Tuesday night that he thinks he knows what head coach Bo Pelini will do and said: “And I think his plan is sound.”
Carl Pelini stepped down after four seasons as the Huskers’ defensive coordinator to become head coach at Florida Atlantic. “There are all kinds of people saying, ‘Well, you’ve got to go out and spend $800,000 on a coordinator,’ ” Osborne said during an appearance on Sports Nightly. “But believe me, spending a lot of money and trying to get some name does not guarantee wins. And you can see that all over the place.
“Bo knows defense. Bo will know exactly what he wants to do there. He’ll make a good decision.”
Osborne said he and Bo Pelini visited down in Orlando last week during a Capital One Bowl function and talked briefly about Pelini’s plans. Osborne said he only listened.
“Bo is the head coach,” Osborne said, “and the worst thing an athletic director can do is to meddle, and to start saying, ‘Well, you need to hire this guy. You need to do this. Do that.’ ”
What was pissing me off is the constant "Nebraska will never pay for it". I like how Perlman came out and said they could and would pay for a name coach if convinced it was necessary.
"There's all kinds of people saying you've got to go out and spend $800,000 on a coordinator, but believe me, spending a lot of money and trying to get some 'name' does not guarantee wins. You can see that all over the place."

If Bo Pelini has decided on a D.C., he hasn't informed his staff. The matter hasn't been discussed as a staff, LBs coach Ross Els said.
Insight Bowl will be a job interview for Venebals as he leaves to take a job elsewhere then Stoops comes in. Most likely. Not all excited about it but a change is needed, even if its just a remix.
