No one yet knows if this ws the right hire. We might know in a year or two, but it doesn't do to grouse about what is yet to come because we don't know.

Yes we certainly will know shortly. All we can do is hope for the best I guess.

Stats don't mean that much if you don't have the money to go out and hire decent coaches. As I mentioned before, the OSU athletic budget is almost half of what Nebraska's is. Also it helps to have good training facilities as well. Do you honestly think OSU is even close to Nebraska's quality wise?

Nope.
What do you think North Dakota State's facilities are like?
What are Kansas State's facilities like?
What are Marshall's facilities like?
What are Duke's facilities like?
What are Memphis's facilities like?
What are Colorado State's facilities like?

Texas has great facilities, yet look at their record.
Florida has great facilities, yet look at their record.
Notre Dame has great facilities, yet look at their record.

Riley needs to be surrounded by a great assistant staff, and there won't be any excuse for that to not happen.
-------
Riley needs to surround himself with people he can trust and work with. But more importantly people that can teach these kids to play at a higher level unlike Bo's staff. But both you and I won't know for some time whether he hired a great assistant staff.

HuskerExtra is reporting that Mike Riley’s base salary will be $2.7 million with $100,000 annual increases and will run through February of 2020. The total deal is worth $14.5 million. Riley was making $1.5 million per year at Oregon State.

I brought up facilities & money to hire a good staff. I say this again, if the three names most commonly mentioned were approached for the job Bret, Kyle, & Mike, they have one thing in common that Bo's assistants as well as Bo himself lacked which is to teach these kids their positionsespecially considering all three guys never got stellar recruiting classes/

Listen, I'm not that dense as to suggest that this is a great hire, the point is no one knows. So, why not hold off on the grousing till after one season at least. Hell, I even gave Bo that much and frankly I was right about him. Problem is he should have been gone sooner for the same reasons Eichorst fired him.

I would LOVE to get one of those one day!!! On the other hand, my 100 lb bag keeps me moving around pretty good, it's a good aerobic workout.

I used it once and broke every bone in my hand!

This was definitely an anti-Bo hire. Ginger the AD said they will compete with sportsmanship and class.

This question is not impressing me

How have you gotten better for being a losing coach?

he basically does not mind losing at all. You come back better next year. Not acceptable.

I didn't realize what a fuckin' weirdo you are until this firing/hiring.

Was it because the bag didn't budge when you hit it, or was it because you only used only one hand to punch with? lol

I see your point about this being the opposite of a Bo hire.

At least you know where I stand on the issue. I look forward to going down in flames next year for being wrong.

If you listened to the interview, Mike Riley basically said what I para phrased. I am of the impression that losing a football game is a small thing to him, which keeps his stress level very low, but what is going to happen when the fans and the media decide to crank it up after a loss?

But then, maybe there won't be any losses because of the facilities.

Did you see that in one short interview, Eichorst and Perlman both agreed he was their man. The whole process started on Monday and was concluded on Wednesday with a face to face in San Francisco.

Pelini was fired, and there was NO PLAN in place. Pelini was just fired. Eichorst and Perlman had had enough.

Going to be an interesting off-season.

Riley said his first order of business will be to assemble his staff. He said he had a good idea of who from Oregon State would join him at Nebraska, but he declined to identify those assistants. He said he would consider retaining some of the current Nebraska assistants.

Hope he keeps Fisher, Warren, Brown and Kaz
