This is a very interesting presser. He's not very "live wire"

He talked to Eichorst starting on Monday.

So Perlman's flight to California on Wednesday was a secret meeting because Riley met that California recruit and had dinner with him.

This question is not impressing me

How have you gotten better for being a losing coach?

he basically does not mind losing at all. You come back better next year. Not acceptable.

This was the cause of a handful of games. Also, I never thought of TO as being a yes man.
-------
And the cause in the wrong perception of what the Nebraska program was all about.

To quote Mike Riley "We didn't score enough points."

Mike Riley's asst coaches

Pick any you think are worthy. My answer NONE

Oregon State Assistant coaches

OC John Garrett
Running Backs Chris Brasfield
Wide Receivers Brent Brennan
Offensive Line Mike Cavanaugh

DC Mark Banker
Linebackers Trent Bray
Defensive Backs Rod Perry
Defensive Line Joe Seumalo

Special Teams Bruce Read

Total Offense 70
Rushing Offense 109
Passing Offense 31
Scoring Offense 85
3rd down conversion 116
4th down conversion 98
red zone offense 86
first downs 65

Total defense 76
Rushing Defense 56
Passing defense 90
Scoring defense 95
red zone defense 90
first downs allowed 91

Penalties per game 122 (this looks like a bad thing)
Penalty yards per game 119 (this looks like a bad thing)
Turnovers 37 (this looks like a good thing)

BTW, Nebraska's worst team statistic category is passing with a rank of 90th. Oregon State has nine statistic categories of 90 or worse.
-------
Stats don't mean that much if you don't have the money to go out and hire decent coaches. As I mentioned before, the OSU athletic budget is almost half of what Nebraska's is. Also it helps to have good training facilities as well. Do you honestly think OSU is even close to Nebraska's quality wise?

Only 100lbs.? I got a 500lb. Punching bag LOL :suds:

I would LOVE to get one of those one day!!! On the other hand, my 100 lb bag keeps me moving around pretty good, it's a good aerobic workout.

I listened to quite a few minutes of his presser and he did say somewhere in there that he was going to make the right hire, or get it right. That to me pretty much means a slam dunk. I don't know how anyone could think he meant something other than that. A below average hire is someone who has had 3 losing seasons within the last 5 years. That clearly isn't the right hire, but what do I know.
-------
No one yet knows if this ws the right hire. We might know in a year or two, but it doesn't do to grouse about what is yet to come because we don't know.

Eichorst now speaking

Mike is being provided resources to make good hires

How did it all unfold

It was a quiet and fast search

I have been doing this awhile(huh?) He as asst AD at Wisconsin then AD at Miami for two years

he wanted Mike Riley for ten years

Oh, he really likes special teams. That was sealed the deal for Eichorst.

Sunday morning he fixated on Mike Riley. He called him on Sunday.

A fucking whirlwind deal, one meeting. Wow. One short face to face meeting.

Riley needs to be surrounded by a great assistant staff, and there won't be any excuse for that to not happen.
