I realize this, but he does have a passing offense. look out now!
-------
Well, our "running game" has worked so well over the last 7 years. We need a balance and unfortunately Bo didn't do that--don't bring up the stats because that "faux balance" usually happened once our running game was stopped and we had no choice but to pass.

Having the home run as THE bread and butter passing play and rarely passing to the tight ends isn't what I call balance. With better passing schemes and pass play calling and a QB who can perform, the running game would have been better. Things may actually improve overall offensively with this new guy. The most critical thing now is what kind of assistants will he have on his staff, and will he allow them to do their jobs.

Supposedly having great facilities and better support will magically turn this guy into a genius. I guess we'll see just how important that is.

I hope Love stays. He should be battling for a starting spot.

Hart is down the TE chart... Carter, Cotton, Freedom and Sutton... He might want to look elsewhere

I want Kaczenski to stay. He built good lines at Iowa. He recruited Drew Ott from Nebraska to go to Iowa. The defensive line is one of Nebraska' strengths.

Fisher already tweeted he is gone.

Players are leaving too.

Cool. He's under contract. If he quits on his own behalf then Nebraska doesn't have to pay him.

Is he fucking stupid?

Doesn't specify that he is quitting. Maybe he has been told that he will not be returning.

Maybe maybe not. But having a OL that cannot effectively pass or run block is the bigger problem. Unfortunately Bo's "coaches" failed with teaching that to the OL. Almost from the start of Bos career, if a team stopped or severely slowed down our running game, we usually lost. When we did win under those circumstances it was usually against patsies like Wyoming or McNeese St.

I randomly chose 4 teams right now doing well. Ohio State, TCU, FSU, Alabama. All have QBs that pass for around 3000 yards and all still manage well over a thousand yards on the ground. Few if any major college programs play grind it out football and are successful (GT maybe?--they've won a lot of conference championships-not).

Riley or someone on his staff was pretty successful at schooling QBs. And between that and re-educating an offensive line, I'm convinced we'll do just fine. The days of run only will no longer work--Bo proved it.
Again, don't know whether Riley will do well or not, but he has to be given the chance to do it his way. Doing it similar to what Bo did won't get us any improvement on either side of the ball.

Win over number 6 ASU this season.

You should check out that 2012 win over Wisconsin to.

Wasn't even a competition at certain points.

You think he's too old and too nice? His team doesn't play "nice" in big games.

Getting a team sky high for a really big game against a top notch opponent, and then getting blown out the next two games doesn't impress me. Keeping a team even keeled and beating teams that you should beat and at least being competitive for the vast majority of the big games against the toughies while winning a few of those games is what I'm expecting from this guy, otherwise he may not even end up being a lateral hire. I don't know about you, but I'm expecting and demanding big things and winning consistency from Riley, considering Eichorst seems to think he was the right hire. If Bo can have 9 win seasons in all seven of his seasons, than no one should expect less from Riley.

Also, if Riley has an eight win or less season in 2015, that can't be excused because it isn't like Riley is taking over a broken ship like Pelini did in 2008.

Oregon State would have knocked our shit off each of the last 7 years!!!

So what. Nebraska wasn't a top ten team in any of those years. I expect big things from Riley and you should too. Keep in mind, Eichorst said he was the right hire for Nebraska.

hi fellas, havent been around for a while so I thought I would check in. I personally was pretty underwhelmed with the hire of Riley and was ready to say I told you so. That being said and after reading up on Riley I think he may be just what the Doctor ordered.

We really cant take any of his record into account because OSU didnt spend any money on the program. Corvallis is like an eastern block country as far as facilities and what Riley did there was with 3rd and 4th stringers in FBS quality schools.

If he brings in a quality staff to surround him, and with the checkbook hes been given he should, we will win right away. Pro style isnt west coast thank God it is more like Kansas Citys offense. Alot of power run and passing and rumor has it that even the te gets to recieve now and again.

Im on board boys GO BIG RED, WELCOME COACH RILEY:suds:

Howdy Lou. I don't want to make you feel uncomfortable or anything, but you were the first thing on my mind when I woke up this morning. Disturbing, huh?

Hope all is well up your way. Say hi to the wife and boys.
