It doesn't look like Mallett will be going to the Browns.

Mallett will be a Patriot next year and the Browns are an absolute unmitigated disaster.

I agree.

Mallet is a better fit for Texas.
But he is probably still a Patriot.
Cleveland is septic, just....wow.

Multiple reports state that Michael Lombardi, whom the Browns ousted from their general manager spot Tuesday, may join the Patriots front office. Chris Fedor of Cleveland’s 92.3 The Fan first reported a potential agreement between the two sides on Twitter Wednesday evening.

Good move IMO...

So what purpose would he serve when BB is the controlling interest in all things Patriots?

Lombardi will have a voice Belichick will listen to...hopefully it'll reduce reaching for players and mistakes in the draft.

Has Lombardi been any better at picking players of value? Pretty sure some of his drafts have flopped big time.

Caserio worked his way up the ladder to become Director of Player Personnell and IMO...Belichick would probably give more weight to Lombardi's input and advice. That's just an opinion but if true, I hope it ends the head-scratching-reaches. For example...IMO they could have gotten Tavon Wilson and Harmon later and used the chips on other players that were consensus picks for those rounds.

Multiple reports out of both Cleveland and New England claim ex-Browns GM Mike Lombardi will join the Patriots' front office.
Lombardi has long been tight with Bill Belichick, and will add experience to the Patriots' brain trust after stints with the 49ers, Browns, Rams, Eagles, Raiders, and Browns again. During his 2013 season as Cleveland's GM, Lombardi stockpiled 2014 draft picks and gathered over $46 million in salary cap space, only to be fired and replaced by Ray Farmer. If the Browns have a sudden 2014 turnaround, Lombardi will have had an awful lot to do with it.

guess we will find out how good he is:suds:
