CC was open to a restructure/extension. This is the first year of PP new contract, but I guess they could convert most of his $11 mil salary this season to a restructure bonus & free up about $8.4 mil. That would add another $1.7 to his high cap number in years 16-20.

So let's assume we spent about roughly 11 mil on Weatherspoon & Lupati. We'd still have 10 mil. left in cap space I thought? Because we had 21 mil. total before these two signings, right?

$4.5 mil of that space will be needed for the draft pool. We can spend that money now, but we would have to then free it up to sign those players before training camp.

Ahh yeah that's right. Which is exactly why we need to trade a couple picks for AP. haha

Cards haven't been able to run the football well for years. This is a big signing if it works for them. Feel like the Cards are fairly complete in all areas of the team as well... they could even use the 1st on Gurley or Gordon.

Not liking this as a Hawks fan.

With Ellington back at 100 percent and adding a big back being part of our FO's focus this offseason and an improved O-Line we could finally have a legit running game. That could really free things up for our WR's (which are damn good with a competent QB).

Again, the biggest question is Palmer's health for AZ heading into this season. If he didn't get injured last year, we might've won the division.

That being said, the Niners are not going to be causing us any trouble this year. :suds:

If they can work magic and makes the AP rumors come true then my oh my… we'd go from a slightly above-average offense (with healthy Palmer) to one of the most balanced offenses in the NFL. AP/Ellington with that huge O-Line and Palmer airing it out to Fitz, Floyd and Smokey Brown. *drools*

Word! Have always liked the banter/association with Cards/Rams fans. The trolling (if much) is intelligent and in good fun and you can actually critique areas of the teams without having the fanbase freak out and immediately jump down your throat saying how wrong you are.

Should be a good season with the Cards/Hawks battling it out for the division. If Rams can actually figure out a QB and the offense, they might creep up too. Looks like the 9ers are in full on implosion mode.

Sounds like both of you need viagra IMO. Iupati will put Palmer back on the IR list, he sucks at pass blocking. Just ask a 49er fan.

He is 10x better than the chump he is replacing. And that's not even counting what he does in the run game. The Cardinals were pretty good in pass protection last season. The run game is what needs improvement.

I can't believe Fanaika is getting 3+ mil.

Palmer best take out some insurance. I don't care if he's better then the last guy, he sucks big time at pass blocking and his run blocking wasn't up to snuff last year either.

We have Brandon Thomas to replace Iupati with. Iupati was too one dimensional. Thomas will be better at pass blocking but not so good at run blocking. He will be better overall though.

BTW- Those niner players are really looking forward to playing for Coach Ron Jeremy as was reported when they promoted him.

Willis - Gone
Justin Smith - Gone
Crabtree - Gone (most likely)
Gore - Gone
Culiver - Gone
Iupati - Gone

Their big move thus far... Signed a 34 year old Dockett coming off a torn AC who hasn't played an all around solid season since 2011.

Wow. Just Wow.

Those players leaving really don't have anything to do with Tomsula. Tomsula was the last person I wanted to see hired as the HC, that doesn't mean he is responsible for these players leaving. The only surprise from the list above is Willis. Those other players listed above where reported to be possible salary cap casualties for quite a long time. Justin Smith is close to Tomsula and the DLine players loved playing for him. Smith has been contemplating retirement for the past couple of years and was thought to be not coming back, but might have reconsidered for Tomsula. The 49ers were only offering Gore $3.5 million and his playing time was going to reduced in favor of Carlos Hyde. The 49ers are letting Crabtree, Culliver, and Iupati test the market as they don't want to pay those players what they are expecting from the FA market. If those players don't get what they are looking for from other teams, they could come back. Both Crabtree and Iupati have been injury prone and underperformed. Culliver played well as the season progressed but has legal issues pending.

I wish the best for Iupati but he did struggle last year, especially starting the season coming of the prior season's injury. His pass blocking has not been good. He flat out missed blocking assignments last year and let guys go right past him. Great run blocker and was run blocking better later in the season. I would be concerned about Carson Palmer if Iupati does not improve his pass blocking skills from last year.

Yeah, SF fans were pretty much 'meh going into FA with Iupati. Majority was no way is he worth big $.
He is a notch above Carpenter, Seattle's LG who is unsigned.

At least some good news for the 9ers. They might actually have some cap space this year....

but since we're talking about Baalke, he'll probably find some way to bust the cap with a string of deals over paying some 34+ year old FAs before the draft.

Hey, I LOVE TO SEE THIS. I hated the niners and their base, the Cards, I kinda respect them. Bring on AP and give the Hawks a rival, a rival we can RESPECT, rather than despise (whiners).

I look forward to AZ rising. Bring on the fun fellows!

Definitely think Iupati's struggles in pass protection are being overblown here. That's obviously not his strongest point, but he's a beast in the run game. I'd take him over Carpenter and Sweezy any day of the week. Good signing for the Cards.
