Cardinals cut Michael Floyd after DUI arrest

There were some on the board who thought we should have pursued him this off-season as a FA. Apparently he hasn't learned from his college days - now he's available on the cheap, if anyone is still interested.

Thoughts?

I would add him for the last few games as a tryout. Nothing to lose.

Sign him, on condition, as Rey said. If he pans out, also sign DJAX, and then draft 2 CBs, another WR, RB, OL, and LB.

Done!

Floyd has a long history of alcohol abuse and impaired driving dating back to his college days at ND. Why would you want to sign someone with substance abuse problems.

It might explain why his play tailed off since his sophomore year in the NFL - if he still has this issue he's going to be no good to anyone who takes him in, until he gets it corrected... easier said than done, I've seen alcohol addiction firsthand and I wouldn't wish it on anyone.

Reminds of the situation the kid had down in JAX...very talented, but couldn't handle the NFL life...drank, toked himself out of the league...Blackmon is his name.

That said, I'm all for rehabilitation and 2nd chances and all of that, but before I would touch this kid, he would have to show that he wants help and follows through with the rehab.

Alcohol addiction is tough.

Yup, loved Blackmon coming out of college - thought he was going to be a stud. Unfortunately life kicked him in the face and he never recovered. His issues dated back to his college days too. Really sad.

I would bring him in, and if he would accept a minimum deal for the last 3 games, see what he can do. He deserves a 2nd chance, IMO. Can't hurt. If he gets help, and accepts a short deal, with preconditions, then we may have a stud. If not, then at least we will lost him to free agency, and get a comp pick. I see no downside to that.

3 games, minimum money and clause that he pays back every bit if he's found out to have drank till the end of the season. Zero downside and you can get to know him up close prior to free agency. With our cast of misfits at WR I'm willing to try anything.

Too late! We passed, and the Patriots claimed Floyd this afternoon.

Whatever! they have a better infrastructure, and leadership, and can afford to take a chance.

Bottom line to me is, WE NEED PLAYMAKERS!!

He could have been a nice piece for the birds. I hope they're not thinking by singing Jackson next season their WR worries are over. Jackson would be great if he's the 2nd or 3rd best receiver on the team.

Exactly. But, if we sign DJAX, we can draft 1 WR, and 2 CBs, OL, LB, and a huge Center!

"Floyd was taken into custody after being found unconscious behind the wheel of his running vehicle at an intersection in suburban Scottsdale early Monday"

I think the guy has a case here

Technically he wasn't actually "driving" under the influence

It's simple mathematics. Eagles give up a cokehead WR who turned into a HOFer, so if they pick one up they're due to get a similar return. That being said, Gordon is still the boozehound I want.
