Well, the Marlins did us no favors up North.... Can Dee be contained?

If the playoffs started next week, who would start game 1 for the Dodgers if you were the manager?

Yes, he can be contained. His baBIP is way higher than his career average (that means he's getting lucky with his base hits) and also, his walk percentage still blows. So sure, his batting average is sky high, but that won't last. His plate discipline still blows and his power still doesn't exist.

Clayton Kershaw, because I'm not stupid.

Bolsinger on the bump.... If he rounds into form or Frias, buys us time till Ryu comes back. However, Ryu was clocked in the low 80s last time he threw.

Ryu looks a long way off. I'd really like some good news about him.

Really proud of what Andre has done for his trade value so far. Can't wait to trade him and Zach Lee for Cueto, Price, or Samardija.

Oh that would be awesome.... but teams hold the Dodgers hostage for a higher price all the time. I just don't see those teams cooperating without a Seager or Urias in the deal - and we know they're nearly untouchable.

Seager or Urias are not going to get traded for half-season rentals.

I did not say they were.... I said they were nearly untouchable. "Nearly" because maybe Babe Ruth gets resurrected from the dead and Freidman pulls the trigger. Dealing in absolute certainties scares me.

It's been well documented that teams will not engage the Dodgers unless we give up a blue chipper.

I don't think anyone should consider Matt Kemp, Dan Haren, Dee Gordon, Miguel Rojas, Tom Windle, etc. to be blue chippers. I'm also not sure what you're referring to when you say "well documented." Yes, teams ask for those top prospects (as they should), and the Dodgers say no. That doesn't mean that no one is engaging the Dodgers in trade talks. Especially considering the way that the Dodgers have been one of the most active teams on the trade market since the new Front Office took over.

I also don't think that the Dodgers have to play by different rules than other teams. If the Reds, Tigers, or White Sox decide they want to trade away their respective walk-year starters, then they'll take the best deal on the table. If the best deal is from the Dodgers and it doesn't include one of the "untouchables," then I don't think they will veto it for that reason, and go to the second best trade option.

This was well documented of late and not the first time I have read that teams want one of these three players in a deal:

"Word is, the cost remains the same [for Cole Hamels]. Going on a year ago, that cost was at least two high-end prospects and then some. By that notion, for example, the Los Angeles Dodgers presumably would have had to send two of these three: Joc Pederson, Corey Seager and Julio Urias," writes Tim Brown of Yahoo! Sports.

And then from the GM's mouth from an article on the Dodgers website last year:

So Colletti doesn't expect to be dealing for an "elite pitcher" -- in other words, the Rays' David Price or the Phillies' Cole Hamels.

"Any elite pitcher will come at this time with a lot of prospect ability attached, probably more so than I'd like to part with," he said.

Colletti unlikely to trade top prospects for 'elite pitcher' | dodgers.com

If you want an elite pitcher, you have to give up a serious prospect.

What active trades are you talking about outside of minor league/periphery players? The only trade for major players was essentially a 5 team trade, a unicorn in the baseball world:

"It all looked nice and clean, sketched out on the whiteboard that covered part of the wall in the war room. At one point, Dodgers president Stan Kasten even stopped to take a picture of the five-team, 16-player trade diagram with his iPhone."

The Los Angeles Dodgers' forward-thinking front office is a force to be reckoned with

Outside of that deal, the Dodgers have not traded for a major piece. And a major piece will not come unless they unload a blue chipper.

If you think Cueto and Price will be traded for Ethier and Zach Lee, you're f-ing nuts.

As for teams holding the Dodgers to a different trade standard - no doubt about it. Everyone knows their resources and payroll. If you do not agree with that, not worth debating further 'cause we will not see eye to eye. However, the Dodgers are one of the few teams that can engage in more trade talks because they can pay a chunk of salary if need be to make a deal work.

Well, the only trades that truly matter at the ones that have been done with the current Front Office. Anything Colletti has said or done is basically irrelevant because he's no longer involved in the team's decision making.

Also, congrats on moving the goal posts once again? Dodgers made trades with the Angels, Padres, Phillies, and Marlins but that doesn't count as a trade for you, for some reason. Also, the multitude of smaller trades don't count either. Well, I guess you're right about one thing in this thread:

not worth debating further 'cause we will not see eye to eye.

And I wasn't serious about Ethier and Lee for Cueto. I was making that up. You know, having fun talking baseball and all that...

I'm moving the goal posts? But when you post something asinine it's a joke.
