If the Heat don't give him max money, the Lakers or Knicks will. Maybe we get a tiny discount off the max for him living in Florida - a low state income tax jurisdiction. Will be interesting to see what ends up happening with the Dragic trade. Seems like we put all our chips in and may now not be able to bluff without having severe egg on our face for a trade where we gave up two first round picks for a 2 month rental, missed playoffs, etc. Will be a very interesting off season that may start sooner rather than later. Also, agree on Wade. Teams are double teaming him, and it appears that the Heat are ill prepared to adjust to that at the end of a game.

The Heat traded two first rounders one in 2017, 2018, or 2019. The other in 2021. The first one is protected a bit. I would hardly call this all our chips. Miami tends to build its teams through free agency/trading and not through the draft. Take DWade out, who was Miami's second best draft pick.. heck even a draft pick that had a really good career? See how hard that question is to answer even for a Heat fan? To me it is Glen Rice from the 1989 draft. Kurt Thomas/Caron Butler.. guys like that are top 6-7 all time picks for the Heat. We are exceptionally bad at the draft. Looks like 25 plus years of drafts and the Heat found two hall of famers. Wade and Rice.

I view the draft as largely worthless unless you have a really high lotto pick.

Bottom line. I think landing Dragic and being able to have first dibs on him this offseason was worth two 1st rounders. Especially considering the line-up it gave us with Bosh still in there.

BTW if the league standings remain the same and Indiana passes us also, we will get our first round pick which is top 10 protected.

If we don't make the playoffs I at least want that damn draft pick

CJ Watson out for Pacers - George is back. No word from the Heat yet on who is in or out

Ira indicates that Hassan currently has 7 stitches as 3 opened up - Lets see if he plays - if he does, as we saw yesterday - he will still give the team everything he has. Open stitches is no fun

The Heat HAD to know early in the game yesterday that Whiteside had the stitches issue and Bird would be out.
Even makes it more inexplainable as to why Spoelstra didn't go balls to the wall to make sure that yesterdays game never got close.

So the heat will be down two important, regularly used players but some idiot in here will still fail to realize just how much injuries affects coaching

He tried to do all he could to make sure it never got close or away from them - the players not so much - his only mistake, giving the ball to the diva on the last shot to settle

And how did he try?

My opinion is he was hoping to never even have to bring Wade back in because of the back to back.

Under normal circumstances I agree that thinking ahead to the next game makes sense, but our nightly situation is anything but normal right now.

First and foremost, to suggest he didnt try or otherwise is beyond stupid and ignorant. His deameanor when the lead was collapsing and when it eventually did was a clear indicator - you sound like Andrearenee in here - you have to realize that we were down a few guys already to start the game, and lost another during the course of the game - there wasnt too much he could do.

Call me an apologist or whatever you want, but fact of the matter is, as Spo has often said in rcent days - who they have available has to be enough - because its all they got and will have until whenever their season ends

As Fiorentino pointed out, ball movement was missing last night late in the game which led to the lead decreasing and eventually lost - of course that was Diva playing hero ball again on his way to costing his team the game by settling for that final shot - there isnt much coaches can do when you have a punk like that doing what he wants regardless of what his team really needs from him

Of course he tried.
I'm just saying that IMO he was pretty convinced the game was over, so because of that he wanted to play the starters as few minutes as possible in that last qtr.
