No score..mid 4th.
Game is zipping by.
Looks like deGrom might have to go 8 or 9 innings...he already has 8 K's....on just 55 pitches.
Mets have only 1 hit.

Also...former Met, Jake Marisnick had 5 RBI earlier today against Milwaukee...in the Cubs 15-2 win.

There you have it...Mets strike 1st....after Davis got HBP, McNeil worked a 10 pitch walk...then deGrom slapped an rbi double the other way...now the Mets have runners at 2nd and 3rd with 1 out...for Nido and Nimmo.

The Wrap:

More:
DeGrom (2-1) was coming off consecutive 14-strikeout games against Miami and Colorado, and New York gave him a fifth day of rest. He reached double-digit strikeouts for the third time this season and 49th overall. He joined Boston’s Pedro Martínez in 1999 and Houston’s Gerrit Cole in 2019 as the only pitchers to strike out 14 in three straight appearances.
It was also just the 16th time since 1901 that a pitcher had 15 or more strikeouts and no walks in a shutout.

The Box:

The Pics:

Up Next:
RHP Marcus Stroman (3-0, 0.90 ERA) starts for the Mets on Saturday, and RHP Joe Ross (1-1, 5.87) for the Nationals.

Training room:
Mets RHP Carlos Carrasco (elbow soreness) is scheduled for a rehab outing Saturday at Port St. Lucie, Florida. ... RHP Seth Lugo (elbow surgery Feb. 16) has thrown off a mound but has not faced hitters. He is expected back next month.

What's up with Conforto?
I know it's early, but he basically hasn't done squat at the plate so far this season....and now that seems to be spilling over to his play in the field. Is the lack of contract talks affecting him mentally??

Michael Conforto finally raises the big apple with a solo shot...his 1st HR of the season that hits the RF foul pole.

5-1 after 4.

Baby steps.

Also: Stro's day is done.
LHP Stephen Tarpley takes over in the 5th.

Ughh

This guy comes in and loads the bases right out of the gate.
Walk, bloop hit, walk....

LMAO...then a HBP.

6-1 Nats....still no outs.

Double switch...
Gsellman takes over...placed in the 7th spot for McNeil.
Guillorme playing 2B now...batting 9th.

Force out at 2B..another run scores...it's now a 7-1 game.
This one is pretty much done.
