Mets got trounced in Chi-town...

Up next.....Mets try to salvage one.

LHP Joey Lucchesi (0-1, 5.40) gets the ball for the Mets in Thursday's finale, as two-time NL Cy Young Award winner Jacob deGrom is pushed back to Friday at home against Washington.
Cubs RHP Trevor Williams (2‐1, 5.02 ERA) looks to win his second straight start. Williams is 3‐1 with a 2.08 ERA in four starts against New York. Lucchesi worked three innings in New York's 7-2 loss at Colorado during a doubleheader on Saturday.

JD has to go. I like the guy but he can't be an everyday third baseman. If we're serious about contending we can't have that type of liability at a premier defensive position. Dom's bat is too good to give up so we have to live with him in left but we can't have 2 liabilities on the same side of the field.

Agreed, but right now all we have as a stop gap are Guillorme (who is more of a SS/2B) and Villar (who really isn’t an everyday player, especially for the “ hot corner”)
I’d be okay with JD and Dom platooning in LF and maybe giving McNeil some looks at 3B as he’s had in the past, but I’d lean more towards Guillorme for now.
But yeah it needs to be mitigated before it leads to more problems. Also need to keep a sharp eye on the waiver wire around both leagues.

You just simply CAN NOT waste 10 pitches and walk the 8 place hitter...and then walking the pitcher (who was up there trying to bunt anyway) on 4 straight out of the zone with only 1 out and the top of the order coming up.

Edit: Then allow a 2 out rbi single...and a 2 out, 2 run double.

3-0 Cubs...end of the 3rd.

:tsk:

Mets showing a pulse in the 4th....putting up 2 runs.
Smith double...Alonso 2 run blast.
Conforto nearly went b2b but after review it was ruled a double.
He was stranded there w/ no outs.

McCann K'd.....Villar walked....Pillar lined out....Nimmo K'd PHing for Lucchesi.

Mets trail 3-2...mid 4th.

Newly called up Sean Reid-Foley took the mound for Lucchesi....and threw a 1-2-3 frame.

Onto the 5th.

LGM!!!

10th inning...tied 3-3....Mets get the last out maker from the 9th as their runner on second base to open the inning.

But their struggles continue...hopefully they leave that BS in Chicago before heading back to NY.

Another golden opportunity gone by the wayside.

We had the bases loaded w/ 1 out........ZiP, Zilch, Zero, Nada.

Now the Cubs will likely win this in the bottom half.

Not even gonna watch.

Swept!

Just as I suspected.

Mets need to do some serious soul searching.

Up Next:

After being pushed back a day, Mets ace Jacob deGrom (1-1, 0.45 ERA) starts the opener of a three-game home series against Washington on Friday night. RHP Erick Fedde (1-1, 5.56) goes for the Nationals.
