its definitely not right for mesz.. he only played 1 playoff game this season (last game against the devs)

martin might be right though.. i seem to recall him getting benched around the time the pens won a couple games

That could have been the case. I didn't really spend time on it, just wanted a starting point. To me, a defenseman can only be as good as their partner allows. I find it to be more situational.

judging dmen is really hard.. they can have atrocious numbers because of a bad partner, or a dreadful goalie, or even forwards that dont backcheck.. IMO the pens big problem in that series was fleury, and the flyers big problem was the forwards paid 0 attention to defense other than couturier and talbot
