Blackhawks advance. Have to wait to see if Detroit pulls out a series win. Go Blues.

China
Not sure if you guys heard about this, but there was a bicycle race in a China zoo with a bear and 2 monkeys. It ended badly for one of the monkeys.

Bear-Monkey Bicycle Race Ends With Bear Eating Monkey in China - The Hollywood Gossip

My son and I watched this in amazement. Not so much for the horrific ending, but we were amazed that the bear was peddling a bike!

Looks like I missed a lot? I thought the draft was going to be in 2 weeks, around the 19th? What kind of kamikaze thinking is this? Can't wait to get on with the suicide, I suppose.

Thought it might be nice to add a "blurb" next to your selection as to why YOU think he's worthy of your pick? Just a thought.

I may need a day or two to decide.
I've heard of spanking the monkey but eating it.............not so much.

Once this draft gets into the deeper rounds it may be hard to keep track of who's available and who has been drafted. my suggestion is to just print out a Top 300 rankings sheet and just cross off who has been drafted while this draft gets under way
BTW, out of desperation as I am totally unprepared for the suicide league (but that's what it is all about, right?) I printed off a cheat sheet from Fantasy Sharks just for that reason............man, I gotta tell you it looks like a cheet sheet you might find on MWHS right now..........

From Rotoworld. Why was he out? Perhaps now it will become clear he is completely out of control and needs to be confined (or committed). ...

Free agent Titus Young was arrested and charged with burglary, assaulting a police officer, and resisting arrest Friday night in San Clemente, CA.

That's three arrests in less than a week for Young, who appears to be trying to keep pace with ex-Oregon CB Cliff Harris. Young is still stewing in jail after the latest arrest. He reportedly broke into a home, and then tried fighting the officers. Young was arrested twice in a 15-hour period last Sunday for drunk driving and trying to steal his impounded car from a towing company's lot. He won't be seeing an NFL field anytime soon.

So DWill restructured his contract to stay in Carolina, thereby making all Carolina RBs barely rosterable in FF.

Just read that.................and a couple of other disturbing comments that I won't comment on right now....................

Now taking bets on who will be the first to be offered an NFL contract. Tim Tebow, or Jamarcus Russel....I got neither at even money, Tebow at 2-1, and Russel 20-1

Russel is gonna work out for the Bears..............bet that make's Joe happy.

In the words of Gene Hackman's character in Enemy of the State, he told Will Smith, "You're either very smart... or incredibly stupid."

Personally I'm not gonna get excited about a backup QB.

Along the lines of JaMarcus Russell...

Was listening to the Waddle & Silvy radio show here in Chicago on ESPN radio. A listener called in and made a real astute observation about rookie QB's. The reason I'm sharing it here is because it has fantasy implications.

Essentially the caller said that QB's that come from national-championship caliber teams are doomed to be busts in the NFL.

Why? He went on to say that championship caliber NCAA teams are good on both sides of the ball, and that reduces (or even eliminates) the need for the QB to have to spend time reading defenses, and making in-game adjustments.

So Waddle and Silvy began running down a list of top-drafted QB's that came from championship-caliber teams, like Vince Young, Matt Lienart, and Cade McNown to name a few... And it eerily showed that maybe the caller was on to something.

I don't follow college ball, but I still found this interesting... any thoughts from you guys?

P.S. If you want to hear the conversation, here's the podcast link. It starts around the 2 hour, 5 minute mark of the show. (After the Jeff Garcia interview.)

Joe, I've been of that thinking for a long time now, occasionally someone will bee the exception, but in general I agree %100 with that caller

Look at it in reverse. Did the top NFL QBs play for national-championship caliber teams? Yep.

Rodgers and Brady's teams were top-5 the year before they were drafted, and Peyton Manning's Vols went into their final game in position to win the national championship (and in fact won the next year).

Brady wasn't the starter on his team..and Tee Martin bested Peyton Manning in Tennessee..just saying

Let's just say that all elite NFL QBs look great in college - but not all QBs that look great in college will be elite NFL QBs.

And some years (like this one) there just ain't much there, and other years (like last year) there's a bonanza.

True - but in the end it is still a team sport. Some SB winning QB are gifted and on a gifted team. Others (Trent Dilfer, Jim McMahon, Brad Johnson, Mark Rypien, Jeff Hostetler) were lucky enough to be part of a team that made them look good - not the other way around.
