This was a lot harder than I thought it would be:

1: Freddie Freeman 2: Ian Kinsler 3: Jordan Zimmermann 4: Jeff Samardzija 5: Alex Cobb

6: Yasiel Puig 7: Mark Trumbo 8: Nolan Arenado

Tough to leave Nick Franklin, Hunter Pence and even Martin Prado off the list. By the end of the season, Yelich might be in there somewhere, maybe for Trumbo. :decision:

Yeah, K-Rod has already nailed down his 300th... but like I said, the next night, the Brewers were down by 2 runs and in comes Henderson? That doesn't sound closer-ish...not like he wasn't getting work done. And he gave up runs. I think they might flip back to K-Rod, but it could be a back and forth thing too.... I think I'm with Rev, on the Putz train. He's pitching in back to back nights tonight (Monday) and tomorrow, then should be up... I hope he comes back with a better walk ratio.

That's the stressful part, when the end of the year comes and you're 8th keeper comes down to Brett Lawrie or Wilin Rosario (who could be the future) or keep Cliff Lee for one more year.:confused2:

Fortunately we have off-season trading so I was able to package Cliff & David Price for Paul Goldschmidt.:yahoo:
Unfortunately I kept Brett Lawrie:doh:

8 Keepers? hmmm - without looking I'll say

Davis, Adam J, Beltre, Cano, A-Gon, Reyes, Sale, and Chappy

all due respect to Peralta and Hardy who've been more than adequate in my non-Reyes days.

Half joking, half serious...I'm not sure I'd keep aanyone outside of Upton and Corbin, trade in the rest for six 1st rounders, lol

Geesh, looks like I'd be in serious need of a youth movement next year!

I'd go with Putz. Bell is a disaster and the D'backs seem to be unwilling to give Hernandez a shot. Putz has the clearest path despite the injury risk.

As for my keepers, my team would look A LOT different if this were a keeper league, but my guys would be:

Harvey, Waino, Scherzer, Cain, Joey Bats, Marte, Gomez and the 8th would be between Headley, Kenley, and I am probably forgetting somebody important. Too pitching heavy, but oh well.

Putz started tonight for Reno, 7 strikes, 8 balls, 1 walk, 1 strikeout, 0 hits.

I don't like the walk, but I think I'll still go with him. Too bad Milwaukee weren't playing tonight, I'd like to get another look at what the situation will be.

Friday: 8th- K-Rod, 9th- Henderson, Save (ugly save)
Saturday: 9th- K-Rod, Save (clean save), no Henderson
Sunday: 8th (or 9th? can't remember)- Henderson, trailing by two runs and giving up one.

very strange sequence, but Henderson has been shaky since his return... I wish Putz' control wasn't an issue pre-injury and at the moment! the closer carousel is such a wonderful thing!

It's possible the early walks were due to an issue with his elbow. Maybe now that he's healthy :hope: and once he gets a few innings in he'll be back to his normal self.

First off I'd keep Andrelton

:kidding:

Longoria, Verlander, Price, Miller, J.Fernandez, Heyward, Stanton, Segura
Taveras might take Segura's spot. Wheeler might take Verlander or Price

I think we should do it :plotting:

1. Waiver claim K-Rod for Henderson

2. Waiver claim Putz for Henderson

3. Waiver claim a Medina (Sea) for Henderson

4. Nothing, wait it out, take what ever trash is left at the end of the week.

I'm going with option 4. I think I prefer Putz to the others, as I agree with tlance, he's got the clearest path. I worry about his ratios too though.
Might be inclined to sit this one out and hope something better comes along. (I guess it really depends on your league's waiver activity. In our league, it's pretty valuable (the #2 spot as people are moved in and out of FA frequently. There may just be a gem) Or if there is possibility of nabbing a very good call-up down the road, I'd wait too.
I don't think Putz is the guy to help you win your league. I agree he's probably more likely to do so than options 1 and 3. I wouldn't be surprised to see Axford bump both KRod and Henderson
esp if they want to showcase him for a trade, even if he doesn't feel like closing (pathetic)

As I re-read your post it seems that waiver order is reset each week? OMG I suck at reading questions fully. If so, might as well grab Putz and go for the ride (going on a bumpy ride, going on a bumpy ride)

Yeah, waivers are reset each week, and the guy who drafted Putz, has Bell and will be looking to make the move too... I'm kind of shocked he didn't already... or keep him on his roster, but that's another story...

Anyway, on to more important things.... WHO WANTS ADRIAN GONZALEZ? I would like a Starting Pitcher in his place, thank you. Come Thursday, the best offer will win! (unless I fall in love with an offer before then and accept right away!)

I'm thinking about benching Kershaw next week in Colorado... would you start Kyle Gibson (vs Shields, vs Sabathia) or Randall Delgado (@ Hudson, @ Harvey) over him?

I would be less worried about the opposing SP, and more worried about the offenses attached to them. Both are tempting 2 starts options, but the Rox line-up isn't all that intimidating right now. I think I would stick with Kershaw.

I agree re: Kershaw. I don't think I'd sit him in any match-up. He could pull a 12k 1 hit performance at any time.
I really like some young arms, and even Gibson and Delgado, but they're more likely to get smoked one game and do well the other. Or one of them might pitch great both and the other get smoked both. And I'd be coin flipping to guess which one would out-perform the other. Rookie pitchers are tough....and these guys aren't Miller, Fernandez, Wheeler quality. I'd take the sure(r) thing.

Gotta start your ace, especially if that ace is Kershaw.

I probably agree with you guys, but that's the decision I made in his last outing vs the Rockies and it didn't work out too well, but no Tulo now and a better offense, I'll probably keep him in there.

That's actually a pretty cool idea, after next year's redraft. Maybe something for everyone to think about?

Question guys:

Who do you like going forward between David Price and Verlander?

I know JV has more value today, but I am not sure that he will be better than Price over the second half. I may be able to hold on to Gyorko from the PTBNL deal by making this SP "upgrade". Thoughts?
