The commish only really has to work when league members aren't playing fairly or aren't being active.

Agreed. Maybe I should state my failings another way then. From the day the leagues are avail, until the live draft is finished, I am in commish mode. And, like you are saying above, if any problems or issues arise, I will deal with them. However, from the draft on, I am in full player mode. And, me as a fantasy player is not very chatty or forthcoming, as I usually have a bunch of players I am monitoring for various reasons, which take up all my time, and I have little or leave litte time to chat with folks on league boards, or to pose questions or such. As such, my leagues are active, but the team boards tend to be silent for the most part.

You mean the Rev doesn't talk it up over there? Hell, get me in one of your leagues and i'll get EVERYONE riled up! :yell::yell::yell:

Sam, your team really isn't that bad...a couple of guys get hot and you get some good match-ups, it's a whole new ballgame.

Thanks.....................I was treading water pretty good until Tulo went down IMO. If Hamilton ever gets his head out of his ass I might actually win a few more games....................

CLOSER THOUGHTS...

So I picked up K-Rod on Friday, anticipating him getting to 300 saves and maybe a couple more while Henderson got his feet wet again... but Henderson gets the save Friday night, and K-Rod wasn't rested, as he pitched the 8th. So I pick up Henderson and drop K-Rod (we can't have 3 closers on our roster unless one is on the DL).... Saturday comes and K-Rod gets the save again! And icing on the cake, Henderson pitches Sunday DOWN by 2... and gave up a run. With Putz on his way back and the Seattle mess, I'm not sure which way to go tonight.

So what would you guys do tonight? I have the 2nd waiver claim, but there are others with some worries at RP, so waiting it out might suck.

1. Waiver claim K-Rod for Henderson

2. Waiver claim Putz for Henderson

3. Waiver claim a Medina (Sea) for Henderson

4. Nothing, wait it out, take what ever trash is left at the end of the week.

Remember my weeks run Sat - Fri .

Truthfully, being commish of a league like this is really easy. The commish only really has to work when league members aren't playing fairly or aren't being active. You guys are so active and skilled as owners that this league could run itself.

The previews are fun to write. I always get a kick out of seeing how wrong I am.

:agree:
You nailed it right on the head. I think the fact that everyone is active (not only in the league but with posts) makes these things fun to do.

I think i'd stick with Henderson. If I were to make a move, it would be Putz but you don't know for sure what's gonna happen with him. Seattle is just that, a mess right now. Even Ollie P. is relevant at the moment.

You can't take the blame here. There's a big difference between roto & H2H as far as chatter goes. We have weekly matchups with smack talk for each game. There is constant back and forth not only with your opponent but with others chiming in.
In roto if you have a good day, you have a good day. What is there to really talk about
"Hey, I'm beating you in saves, good luck catching up" You can't do that with 4 months left.
And by the time you get to the point to where you can do something like that, the bottom 5 teams have mentally moved on to football and have no interest in talking baseball.

I like roto, but it seems kind of impersonal as far as interaction goes. I think if this league was a roto league, we wouldn't have what we have now. That's just my feelings.

That is what I was thinking, that I am the no fun commish. Oh well, I can live with that, as long as the leagues are competitive.

He is both very active and very vocal. And, with the death of CBS, I will be asking/poaching on you guys a lot come next year to fill up leagues. That said, I am guessing I will start and comish one less next year, and will likely and hopefully pick up one more from you guys here. It was hard enough for me to network before, evan when having a strong 10 year online presence. Now that it is pretty well gone, I am going to have to scramble I am sure.

You just have to be ready for icky daily Roto play though Chef.......

With the way Bell has been I'd stick with Putz. He should be off the DL by Saturday so take him off and drop K-Rod. Health provided you'll be happy with Putz.
And I would want Henderson. He was getting the job done before his DL trip and one bad game isn't enough of a reason for him to lose the closer role. Once K-Rod gets his 300th save, the 9th should belong to Henderson.

Psst

K-Rod nailed down # 300 on 6/22. As such, I think his days of closing for the Brewers ( aside from injuries ) is now over. At least that is what I understood of the comments Roenicke made when Henderson went down.

:omg:

Besides, my requests would be "in addtion to" and not "instead of".
Heck, if I can do 5 leagues, then anyone can, right?

You said it yourself, you have more time on your hands than the average human.

I don't have any intention of going back to the other two i'm in, so three leagues again next year will be cool. Although, this being my first keeper league, i'm sure it will stress me out no end. A daily Roto league? That will certainly be interesting. I've played Roto once before, and I can see where the banter could be a bit subdued. I'm sure there're ways of getting around that. :)

I would have more free time than most, as I don't have much of what most would call a real life. However, those 5 teams take up all the otherwise spare time I would have. Tonight will be bad. Only 1 game to watch, and that does not start for 3 1/2 hours.

I may have to talk to the wife and do chores or something tonight.

THE HORROR!!!!!! :gaah:

Although, this being my first keeper league, i'm sure it will stress me out no end.

We had someone take over a team in 2011 and his keepers were Ryan Howard, Chase Utley, Nelson Cruz, Mariano Rivera, Chris Young (OF), Wandy Rodriguez, Jordan Zimmerman & Kyle Drabek.
Fast forward 2 years and his keeper this year were Mike Trout, Troy Tulowitzki, Evan Longoria, Jacoby Ellsbury, Madison Bumgarner, Yu Darvish, Jason Kipnis & Chase Headley.
He also made the playoffs the past 2 years and on top of that he was just like Sam, played fantasy football but never played fantasy baseball.

It's not a dynasty league like Philabuster is in, we only keep 8. Look at your mbbrl team and decide who your 8 keepers would be if this was a keeper league. If you come up with a list that is longer than 8 you're in good shape. If you struggle with your final 7th & 8th player you've got a little work to do.

That last post made me think. I know this isn't a keeper league but if it was, and we kept 8 players, who would be your keepers?
I think mine would be
1.Paul Goldschmidt 2.Allen Craig 3.Shin-Soo Choo 4.Dominic Brown 5.Alex Rios
6.Elvis Andrus or Hanley Ramirez(I just threw up in my mouth a little naming Hanley)
7 & 8 would come down to Hyun-Jin Ryu, Lance Lynn, Josh Donaldson & which ever was left between Hanley & Elvis.

Although this far down in the standings I'd probably be looking to trade Rios, Choo & Hanley for someone younger for the future.
