I thought our trade was going through today, Jim? How are we supposed to have them in our lineups if they aren't on our team until the morning? Geesh, when did we make this deal? I thought it was Wednesday... speaking of stupid fucking rules, this trade delay is the dumbest thing I've ever heard of!

Y! looks to be having a problem today. None of the stats from yesterday's games are showing up and daily standings have not been updated. Once they fix whatever the glitch is, your trade should be processed. Hopefully, this is in time for the line-up. If you are busy later and can't set your line-up, send me a PM with what you want and I can fix it for you.

pretty simple... Cano goes in for Seager... Grandy stays on the bench and Oswalt goes in for (who is now Capuano), but I'm waiting for a waiver claim there, so it would be Oswalt in -- waiver claim benched....

but I should be around

The trade was accepted on Thursday so it should go through today.

There's a quick solution. If it's not through by the time the first game starts, I can use the commish controls and change the "Trades Reviewed by" option from league vote to commissioner and put it through, then put it back to normal once that's done.

If they have not fixed the issue by this evening, then the deal should be forced through. The trade was accepted in time to be reflected in next week's line ups. Let's give them a few hours before doing something crazy though. I have seen this happen before and they usually have it fixed before the games start.

Also, for those that haven't seen Hammer's message, the SportsHoopla site is migrating right now, so any posts made this morning will be deleted once the process finishes.

well the scoring hasn't been fixed yet, but at least trade and waiver wire requests have been processed.

Nice. Shouldn't be long for the scoring to change too ... I wasn't around much last night, I wonder if it will be good for me or not? I know A-Gon went deep, and I guess I'd have to assume Davis did... oh yeah, and Chappy blew a save... after Bruce hit two to cost Bell his job (probably) ... and Corbin only had 104 pitches...

can't remember the thread, but I was dead on about Bruce's six week massacre, I'd like to get the numbers from the day I wrote it... but hope I'm just as dead wrong about the timeline!

I was hoping to get the recap up tonight, but since there are swing categories in every matchup and Texas & St.Louis are going to start right around when I go to bed, it will have to wait until morning. Oh well, such is life in the world of baseball.

Week 13 Preview

Game of the Week:

Sarnia Tigers vs. Soggy Bottom Boys- Soggy 5, Sarnia 4

Not only are these two teams looking good for the playoffs, but they meet the week after completing a pair of blockbuster trades with each other. Both teams take on drastic new looks as they face off. Year to date stats can be thrown out entirely when analyzing this match-up.

When they last played, the Soggy ones drenched the Tigers 7-1. The Tigers seek retribution.

Pitching- Soggy enjoys 4 more starts and should take wins. Sarnia, meanwhile, has a clear path to the save title this week. Everything else is a crap-shoot. Despite the extra starts, K's will be very much in doubt. ERA and WHIP would normally favor Sarnia, but since dealing J. Zimmermann for a struggling Verlander, these two categories are very much up in the air. Both teams have young and unproven arms in their rotations as well.

Hitting- SBs clearly favor the boys. The other cats are too close to call. Sarnia is praying that Yaisel Puig doesn't induce nightmares this week. Since David Price is still on the DL, the short term advantage in that deal lies heavily in Soggy's favor. Will Puig stay hot and carry the Soggy one's to victory? We shall see.

That's right folks. For those counting at home, there are a record 7 swing categories in this epic match-up.

Grand Salami vs. Wolfpack- Grand 5, Wolf 3

When they last met, the Salamis beat up the Wolves 6-2.

Pitching- The Pack has 5 more starts than the Salamis, so they should take wins without any trouble. K's, on the other hand, could be closer than one might think at first glance. The edge is for the Pack, but it could come down to Sunday. The Salamis are guaranteed to win saves, and they should ride their aces to win ERA and WHIP as well.

Hitting- Amazingly enough, the YTD stats show virtual deadlocks across the board in nearly every offensive category. A big trade by the Rev along with a couple injuries for the Salamis could end up shifting this match-up. Right now, nothing can be taken for granted on the offensive side.

Dub vs. Fudpuckers- Fud 6, Dub 4

When they last met, Fud took charge and won 6-4.

Pitching- Fud only has 2 extra starts this week. He still has an edge in wins, but Dub should get both saves and ERA. WHIP and K's are too close to call.

Hitting- Fud enjoys edges in runs, RBI, and HR. SBs and BA are swing categories.

WHIP my FIP vs. D Dude's Dodgers- WHIP 7, Dude 3

When they last met, WHIP whipped the Dudes 6-4.

Pitching- The Dudes have 0 2 start pitchers in this one. WHIP will use 3 extra starts to get advantages in wins and Ks. Dude should be able to get saves since he has better game enders, but with each team starting 3 closers, this could be up in the air. ERA and WHIP are too close to call.

Hitting- WHIP has the advantage on the hitting side. He is favored to take runs, HR and BA. RBI and SBs will be too close to call.

TKOut vs. Sportsboys- TKO 8, Boys 2

When they last met, the Boys took TKO out, 7-3.

Pitching- The Boys have the edge in wins by virtue of 3 extra starts. Ks will be too close to call. Saves, ERA and WHIP all favor TKO.

Hitting- Perhaps no team has transformed more than TKO. His infield looks like an all-star team now that he has acquired Cano and Reyes is nearing a return. Although some of these categories will be close, TKO has the edge in BA, HR, RBI and SB. Runs should go to the Boys.

Yellow Fuzzies vs. Big League Chew- Fuzzy 6, Chew 4

When they last met, Fuzzy won 8-1.

Pitching- Fuzzy should get saves, but that depends on what happens with Brothers this week. Big League has the edge in wins and Ks. ERA and WHIP should be very close.

Hitting- Big League has the advantage in HRs. Fuzzy has the edge everywhere else.

Good luck to all. Should be a fun week.

So after 12 weeks, the H2H standings are:

1 Sarnia Tigers 72-42-6
2 The Grand Salami 67-46-7
3 WHIP out your FIP 64-48-8
4 Soggy Bottom Boys 57-51-12
5 D Dude’s Dodgers 55-57-8
6 Fudpuckers 56-59-5
__________________________________

7 DUB 56-60-4
8 YellowFuzzy 54-59-7
9 TKOut 56-62-2
10 The Sportsboys 51-63-6
11 Big League Chew 51-64-5
12 WolfPack 41-69-10

But the standings don't tell the whole story as I take a look behind the numbers. Who's been lucky and blessed with favorable matchups, who's been as good as advertised, and who's been unlucky and deserving of more.
The Roto rankings tell a different story.

Week 12.jpg

So after 12 weeks, Sarnia Tigers has clearly earned their place at the top of the rankings.
YellowFuzzy, WolfPack & TKOut who currently reside in the bottom half have been better than the standings reflect.
The Grand Salami & WHIP out your FIP round out the top 6. Both still deserving of their spots, but are slightly less than advertised.
The Soggy Bottom Boyz slip from 4th to 7th suggesting a few well timed matchups fell their way.
The same could be said for Fudpuckers who would drop out of the playoff race down to 9th place.
The Sportsboys are currently in 10 but deserve a little better than that.
D Dude's Dodgers ranks 10th in roto suggesting that 5th place spot in H2H could be a mirage.
DUB slips down from 7th to number 11. Some luck has been on his side in H2H as there have been a number of weeks with empty slots or DL players in their lineup.
Just like Sarnia earned their place at the top of the rankings, Big League Chew earned their spot at the bottom.

With 10 more weeks to go, will things continue on the same paths? Will the luck run out for some? Will fortunes change for others?
Only 13 games separate the 5th place team from the last place team so it's still anyone's game.

I can't belive how much time you spend digging out these roto stats for us. It makes things that much more interesting for me, so please know your hard work is appreciated.

What this all tells me, or what I choose to pull from and hear, is that it is not so much H2H that may be causing me to struggle. To me, part of it has to be the weekly vs. daily changes. I say that, as my team has not been a very good Roto team either. That said, I would hate to count up just the number of lost games played, due to injuries & such, and think of how many more counting stats I would have had I had the chance to make roster moves.

NOT a complaint here, just sharing the insight I am getting from this extra work that you are doing, and how much the ability to make changes on the fly helps me in the other leagues I play in.

You also may have limited your chances to improve when you warned everyone that the only time you trade is when you're sure you've screwed the other guy...just sayin'!

Yep. being upfront and honest gets me nothing but trouble. Still, it has not stopped people from trying to trade with me. Is it really too much to ask to be the guy getting a trade offer, and said offer is for 2 of your guys for 3 of mine? When getting offers, it is ALWAYS the other way around, and I pretty much never deal in trades where I am getting back more players than I am sending.

Yeah, i've learned that lesson as well. Sometimes it looks good until you realize you also have to drop someone.

With, many times, the guy you drop being the other guys "throw in", to make the trade fair/fairer.

At least I know that I expect too much when trading, making it no shocker when I fail to get much done in that area.
