ya'll are crusging the yahoo message board today...and my email..lol. Couldn't check much of anything while,at work today, and when I finally get a chance, like 30 emails, from yahoo..geesh Good to see that amount of activity, lovin' it!

I am in the same boat. For me, the backups is being blocked at work, so I have to find the odd moment to bust out the laptop to catch up.

And, this is a BIG wakeup call to me about how inactive I am on league boards in season. I get too wrapped up in juggling my teams and rosters to find time to chat anything about anything.

I do all of my chatting here...., which is still not that much

Kirk Gibson serving his suspension tonight. If Prado goes 4 for 4, my suspicions will prove to be true. :suspicious:

Been busy lately but I would have to say my MVP would be Tulo but now looks like Beltran. Biggest disappointment............the rest of 'em.

I have a dilemma in my H2H keeper league.

I traded for Castro in the off season, but I drafted Segura so he's been at SS while Castro has been on my bench. I can't play Castro in my utility slot because that's tied up by Goldschmidt as I have Votto for first. I currently have Frazier at third base and Lawrie on the DL.

I've been offered Ryan Zimmerman for Castro. It seems like a no brainer value wise, but here's my problems.

1. We are only allowed 40 f/a pickups for the year and I'm currently at 34. Trading away Castro would take away my only backup for SS and right now I've positioned myself to having a backup everywhere except catcher, so I have no need to pick up someone if there is an injury.

2. While I like Zimm, with the exception of BA he's not doing anything that Frazier isn't. Not to mention that if Lawrie comes back and starts to hit he's got nowhere to play and he rides the bench like Castro currently.

3. I could move Frazier to the OF, but with Halladay, Craig & Choo locked into their spots, the last player to replace would be Brantley and there isn't much difference between Brantley & Frazier. Plus I have Morse on the Bench along with Taveras & Yelick.

4. We are adding a CI & MI slot next year and we all know how hard it can be to fill the MI slot, so keeping Castro for next year could be very useful.

Using the rankings for our scoring system, Castro ranked 5th in 2011 & 6th in 2012 (we use hits & OPS along with the standard 5x5). He's slumping this year, but given what he's done the 2 years prior, his age, his upside, the presence of Lawrie at 3rd, Frazier, my current OF...I don't think it's the right deal to make.
Plus the owners of Harper & Trout have expressed interest in Castro, and I may be able to get on of those guys for a package with Castro & Votto (other pieces are being discussed but the Harper one is on hold with his injury).
Unlike my team in the MBBRL, I have no holes in my lineup, pitching staff or bench so I have no need for a trade.

So given all that, would you make the trade?

I do not like Castro. Never have, never will. He never walks and seems like he doesn't want to learn. I never really liked his SB potential either.

Still, after all of that, I would not do that deal for the reasons you've stated... unless of course, adding Lawrie and his "MI guy?" if he has such a back up on his roster right now? -- because in a vacuum, I would accept Zimm for Castro, but you are right when you're thinking about the MI future for your team... but if I keep typing, I will talk myself out of it and say accept this, because plain and simple, Zimm is better, IMO. Don't worry about transaction moves left, not like 5 is any worse than 6 ...in June!

If accepted, you could probably find that future MI guy in a trade involving Lawrie I would think... see, I'm starting to talk myself out of it, so I'll leave it at that.

YA SEE, THAT'S WHAT I KEEP DOING. That's why I came here. And his current SS is Tulowitzki so he has no backup MI guy.

The guy with Trout said no tonight, not for any price. I can see that as if I had a young player like that with a man crush, I wouldn't part with him either.

Harper still has a shot, but I'd like to make sure his knee is fine before I go trading someone like Votto away.

I don't think Zimmermann gives you a lot more than Frazier ROS either.
It's a super offer, and it does seem like an automatic acceptance at face value.
Castro is like Andrelton without defense :L

I think the window to get value out of Castro is shutting. If I couldn't move him for a better piece quickly, I might just accept Zimmermann. Castro is one dumb-ass move away from demotion. While I'd never drop him, he's got too much talent, I'd be very concerned and I'd be looking to move as fast as I can. I dealt him 2 weeks ago for Kemp. And I'm worried about Kemp. But we play a MI so he has more value....the fact that you're adding a MI and a CI doesn't really change value of THIS offer, but it sure adds to Castro's value in other deals. I wouldn't move for less than Zimmermann. It's a perfect baseline offer. If nothing better can be done soon, I'd take it.

Not a big Castro fan and I love Votto. Passing on a chance to get Harper is tough, but Votto and Castro for Harper will hurt you in the short term. Votto is the second best hitter in MLB, IMO. He isn't the second best fantasy player, but the dude can rake. He will be a first round asset for the next 4-5 years.

I would take the Zimmerman deal. He took off in the second half last year, and I would expect similar results this time as the Nats line-up starts to get healthy. They are better than they have played this year.

I know you want a back up SS, but Segura is young. He has a good chance to finish the season healthy. You may just have to sit on a couple roster moves down the stretch. I would much rather own Segura than Castro long term.

The guy with Harper wanted way more than Harper is worth so I gritted my teeth, ignored the possibility of Castro & Segura at SS & MI next year and made the trade. I love the upside of Castro, and I think that's what made this so hard to do.

Now I'm off to pimp Brett Lawrie who is another player I loved the upside of, but has done nothing but disappoint me.
If I didn't trade for Castro in the off-season and didn't keep Lawrie, I could have Carlos Gonzalez & Wilin Rosario on my roster right now. Still in first so I can't really complain.

Oliver Perez is awesome, I had him on my team.......................in 2004.

One note from the trade I made. Everyone in my league must have been busy on Friday, and I assumed (and so must of the guy that has Tulowitzki) that Rutledge was taken. I was looking at teams to trade Lawrie to and I didn't see Josh so I went to the waiver wire and low and behold, there he was.
SCORE! Now I've got a backup not only for Segura but for Altuve as well.

Wow...Cobb took a wicked shot to the head. MLB is going to have to come up with some kind of protection sooner or later, I think.

As he goes 0-6, leaves 9 guys on base and makes the first and last outs in the 6 run first.

WWTHD?

What Would Tulo Have Done?

4 leagues I got destroyed in tonight. I even made a "buy" trade in a league I was 4-6 in because I was winning this week. Now I'll be 4-7 and I just lost Carlos Correa in a deal. Bad day. 8 era in MBBRL. I think I'll set a record for poorest win vs start % this week.

Holy crap Arenado..... might be best play I've seen this year.
And to think, a year and a half ago he "couldn't stay on 3B". He's a player!
MLB has gone young for sure!
