Week 11 Preview:

Next week the re-matches will start. There are many interesting battles this week, so it is difficult to select one as the game of the week. We will jump right in:

Grand Salami vs. Fudpuckers- Grand 5, Fud 5

If they played last week, the Grand ones would have won 6-3.

Pitching- Fud enjoys 4 extra starts this week giving him an edge in Ks and Ws. The Salamis have 0 2 start pitchers this week, but with the Cain acquisition have no shored up one of the stronger staffs in the league. The are a shoe-in to win saves and have the edge in ERA/WHIP also.

Hitting- There could be some close battles here. Runs and SBs should go to Fud, while the RBI edge lies with the Salamis. Both teams are among the tops in the league in HRs, so the slugfest could come down to the final day. BA is too close to call also.

Dub vs. Sarnia Tigers- Sarnia 6, Dub 4

Pitching- Sarnia has punted saves this week and has 2 extra starts as a result. It will be interesting to see how the strategy affects the ERA/WHIP battle, which could decide this match-up. Ks will be close also, but I am giving a slight edge to Dub here.

Hitting- Dub should get SBs and BA. Sarnia should get R, HR, and RBI. If Sarnia's hitters keep swinging hot bats. however, this one could get ugly.

WolfPack vs. D Dude's Dodgers- Dude 7, Wolf 3

Pitching- The pack have 2 extra starts and enjoy an edge in K's and W's. Dude should get saves, but the Pack is no longer punting here. ERA and WHIP could go either way.

Hitting- Wolf has the edge in R, HR, and RBI. SB and BA could go either way.

For those counting at home, the Wolfpack have the edge in 5 cats while the D Dudes have the edge in 1 and there are 4 swing categories. Despite the clear advantage to the Pack, I am picking D Dude to take this match-up because that is how Jim's team rolls. Good luck fellas.

Soggy Bottom Boys vs. Sam's Sportsboys- Sports 5, Soggy 4

Pitching- In the battle of the boys, Sam has an edge in Ws and Ks with a whopping 14 starts. The soggy ones have the edge in saves, but only starting Wilhelmsen could prove risky if the M's offense goes cold. ERA and WHIP could go either way.

Hitting- Soggy will win steals. Take that to the bank. The Sporty ones have the edge in HR and RBI. Runs and BA could end up swinging this match-up.

WHIP my FIP vs. Big League Chew- WHIP 5, CHew 5

Pitching- Chew has the advantage in all 5 pitching cats with a DL'ed Ogando active for WHIP and 2 starts apiece for Kershaw and the up and coming Teheran. Saves should also go his way as the Mets continue to struggle in finding chances for Parnell.

Hitting- WHIP has the edge in all 5 hitting cats. His offense has been better YTD and Chew's bats have gone cold lately.

TKOut vs. Yellow Fuzzies- TKO 5, Fuzzy 3

Pitching- All 5 pitching cats will be close. TKO enjoys a slight edge in saves, ERA and WHIP while the Fuzzies have the edge in Wins. Ks are too close to call.

Hitting- TKO should get HR while Fuzzies should get Runs. All other categories are very close. The Adrian Beltre acquisition could prove to be the difference this week.

This is a quick write-up this week. Tried to squeeze it in before work. Enjoy, and good luck to all.

Welcome to the weekly Re-Crap for week 10. Each week I will recap the weeks matchups and update the current standings for the masses.
I would have had this up last night but Cincinnati & St. Louis played past my bedtime. Not much more to say so let’s get to it.

Sarnia Tigers 6 – Grand Salami 4 (predicted score: Sarnia Tigers 6 – The Grand Salami 3)
The predicted score was close enough so we’ll give this one to the odds makers. The Tigers had the edge in hitting going into this and took full advantage. Sarnia took 4 of 5 here leaving The Grand One to eek out the saves category by one. The pitching edge was also in favor of the Tigers, but their staff had other plans. The Salami’s easily took ERA and squeaked by with saves & Whip. Sarnia had a little bit more on the ball though as they took strikeouts and edged out saves by one.

WHIP out your FIP 6 – YellowFuzzy 2 (predicted Score: YellowFuzzy 6 – WHIP out your FIP 3)
Another close one for the Vegas odds makers. FIP took 3 batting categories with HR’s, RBI’s & SB’s, but all 3 were close. Fuzzy took runs and batting average easily, unfortunately those were the only 2 wins they would get. FIP’s staff was able to take era, whip and saves. Neither teams pitching staff could buy a win this week. As a result wins were tied, and strikeouts were also tied but not for a lack of effort by either team.

DUB 6 – D Dude’s Dodgers 4 (predicted Score: D Dude’s Dodgers 6 – DUB 4)
Right Score, Wrong teams. Hitting was completely one sided as DUB dominated the hitting categories. Pitching was the exact same thing as the Dude’s took 4 of the five pitching categories. Unfortunately the Dude’s all-star closers managed just 2 saves for the week, which wasn’t enough to match up to the 7 DUB accumulated.

TKOut 7 – Fudpuckers 2 (predicted score: TKOut 5 – Fudpuckers 5)
This one almost turned into a blowout. TKO was all about the pitching this week taking 4 of 5 with ease. Even though TKO had very good numbers, wins were hard to come and FUD’s extra full staff took full advantage….barely. TKO’s bats were just as focused as the pitchers, easily taking batting average & home runs. They also took RBI’s in a close race. The one thing Fud had going for them is stolen bases and they ran every chance they got.

WolfPack 5 - Sportsboys 4 (predicted score: WolfPack 7 – The Sportsboys 3)
The WolfPack scored their first win in saves this week. The move paid off as that was the deciding factor of this match. The Pack also took Wins & ERA, and came within 1 of taking K’s, but settle for a tie their instead. Sportsboys took the remaining pitching category. Hitting was all Sportsboys taking runs, home runs and batting average. Despite all the homers, there were a lot of single shots, allowing the Pack to take rbi’s and run away with steals.

Soggy Bottom Boyz 6 – Big League Chew 3 (predicted Score: Soggy Bottom Boyz 9 – Big League Chew 1)
The boys bats came out swinging, and came within 1 HR of completing the sweep in hitting. They took 4 of the 5 categories with ease and ran circles around big league with 14 stolen bases. Those would come in handy had this been a roto league. As for Pitching, Soggy had more starts so it no surprise they took wins & K’s. But some of those starts turned ugly so ERA & WHIP when to Big League along with saves.

All teams will meet again for a rematch in week 21

So after 10 weeks, the stands are as follows
:
1 Sarnia Tigers (Philabuster5) 58-38-4
2 The Grand Salami (Tlance) 53-40-7
3 WHIP out your FIP (Varrys) 53-41-6
4 Soggy Bottom Boys (Chef99) 48-41-11
4 Fudpuckers (TREFF) 49-46-5
6 DUB (DUB aka Cheese) 49-47-4
__________________________________
7 YellowFuzzy 45-48-7
8 TKOut (TKOSpikes) 46-52-2
9 The Sportsboys (Sam Sport Boy) 45-51-4
10 D Dude's Dodgers (bigdmgr) 43-50-7
12 Big League Chew (RamTuff08) 39-56-5
12 WolfPack (Reverend Jim) 37-55-8

Sorry, the day I stay away usually.
For Puig, I've been scouring the teams that expressed some interest...
I almost offered him for Chapman if that's an idea.
I wimped out though....so that's an indication of how I value him.
Open for offers.
Not sure if I'm right or wrong but I'm ballparking him in that range. :)
Let's just say "New Guy" has a lot of buyer's remorse on Hamilton and I damn near sent you a straight up Hamilton for Puig offer...........but then Hamilton will start raking and Puig will start sucking and all of the Dodger fans would put a bounty on my head..............

Hey, I picked up a half game on the Tigers............is it normal for a 12 teamer to be this close at the midway point of the season? There aren't a whole lot of games seperating the bottom 6 teams from a playoff spot.

And I wonder how much better I would be doing if this were not a weekly change league? My guys like to be announced as hurt or otherwise out only AFTER the weekly lineups are set.....

I hear you with that. At lest the Dodgers were nice enough to announce Hanley was going for an MRI Sunday night and give me a heads up.

Fuckin Hanely:gaah:

Funny thing is last 2 or 3 weeks my team of mostly fat, old power hitters have been scoring runs but not driving in many. Think I had 15 dingers last week and 38 ribs............the love affair with Mark Reynolds has come to a screeching halt as well. Good thing I have Freese to put in his spot (that's sarcasm even if he has been hot lately)

I agree. Almost benched Braun for the week in anticipation of the DL announcement, but with only Swisher as an option I let it ride. :hope:

I might be able to win a hitting cat, if I could figure out a way for all of my hitters to play a full week for me.

Gone = sent down, or, Gone = hurt?

If it is the former, the local AZ baseball talking heads will be happy. If it is the latter, they will be saying "I told you so" to Gibson and the AZ brass. According to my dad's read of the local AZ sportspages that is.

I wish they would just put Braun on the DL and let him heal up. :thumb:

it takes longer to heal up when your pusher is co-operatong with MLB....

Hee hee...I was expecting the jokes. Like "Rub a little HGH on the thumb, it'll heal right up." And of course, A-Rod goes out and hires Braun's lawyer...this whole thing is gonna get real ugly. :yuck:

Braun was just traded today in my keeper league, the guy that has Braun has been offering him everywhere. I wasn't gonna part with Goldschmidt to get him.

Anyway the trade was Braun, Ryan Zimmerman & Alex Gordon for Evan Longoria & Madison Bumgarner.

I'd say he got 100 cents (at least) on the dollar.
Impressive really.
