I remember when there were 3 back in 2004.
That seemed unreal when it happened.
That seemed unreal when it happened.
There's 16 of them right now, and most of those teams are pretty damn good teams. I think there's a good chance there will be more than four of them without a loss after the season ends. Most seasons I wouldn't feel this way, but something is telling me this season will be an extraordinary season.
Okay, so do you believe an undefeated Nebraska is one of the teams that will be selected in the playoff if there's only for example 2 other undefeated teams then?
there were 5 teams in 2009, but only 2 from Power 5 conferences. Texas. Bama, TCU, Cincinnati, Boise State.
2004 also had 5. 3 from the Power 5, USC, OK, Auburn, and it also had Utah and Boise State.
i went all the way back to 1992 and didn't find another instance of more than 3.
ehh. There's like 30 undefeated P-5 + ND teams right now.
But still, it's only week 4 and most of those undefeated teams will play each other at some point. If not regular season then in their CCG.
Could you imagine the hell that this playoff would get if it selected 1-loss teams over an undefeated Nebraska team?
There is no way they would let that happen. The point of this playoff is to end that from happening.
The point of the playoff only being 4 teams is because they don't figure there will be more than 4 undefeated teams.
No one can tell me that out of the top nine teams which are undefeated in this poll, that there isn't a legitimate chance that at least 4 of them won't still be undefeated at season's end. If Nebraska is still undefeated then, does anyone really believe they'll jump one of those teams with the respect the BIG is getting this year?...

the point as made earlier though, someone is going to lose. When is the last time a Big 12 team went undefeated in the regular season? was it Texas in 2009? when was the last time a PAC 12 team went undefeated? heck I can't even think of one since USC in 2004.
Gee, Matt Millen.
Often considered the WORST GM/CEO of the NFL ever, wait, not just the NFL, any sport.
Under Matt Millen, the Detroit Lions had a .270 winning percentage.
History has proven that whatever Matt Millen thinks, the opposite is true.
