That light at the end of the tunnel just got a little farther away
Not trolling on a Bengals board, but in my opinion extending Lewis, as well as not firing him 3 seasons ago, were huge mistakes.

No way. Next you're gonna tell me Andy Dalton sucks in big games.
Just going to play a little devil's advocate here...
I think most of us are on the same page that Lewis has done a solid job here. He came in, and helped to turn this franchise around. He got Brown to loosen the reigns a little bit, and actually did something that no other coach has been able to do: Win.
Now, that being said, much like I said with Dusty, he was the right guy at the right time. However, the time has changed. He's no longer the guy that this team needs. They need a coach that can take what this team has, and get them over the playoff hump and win an actual playoff game.
I think we can all agree, for the most part, on that.
However, what leads any of us to believe that this franchise, Brown, Katie, etc...what leads us to believe that they can make the next hire the correct one? I'm not so sure. I think that the next hire could see Brown not trust the coach as much, and the team is right back to 2002 (or whever it was) when Marvin first came on board and spent the next 8 years beating the drum.
So, while we can all look at this as a step backwards, away from what we want, is it really when you consider that this team will more than likely hire the worst possible guy, and watch this team back in the 90's hamster wheel.
(again, total devil's advocate....I think it's worth the chance, but again....)
