The D played as well as they have all season..the difference tonight was they actually were saved by Marty in those first 10 mins. Goal aside he's the sole reason we won tonight and why Im feeling a lot better about our season right now.

Rags lose as well. I have to say I liked our 4th line in that game as well. Sesito and Pesonen (sp?) looked like they want to stay in the lineup. A lot of hustle out of those guys, even when they got caught against one of the better Carolina lines.

Rags losing helps a lot..just goes to show you cant take any game for granted. They should've won easily tonight but their scoring woes continue.

Markstrom saves 44 outta 45..pretty impressive.

I would have to look it up but I THINK that his other goal he credit for by virtue of own goal was a GWG.

Indeed, Brodeur is the only goalie to be credited with a GWG. 2/15/00 vs Flyers.

as good as the game was since we won. the defense looked horrible giving up tons of odd man rushes and lose pucks in the slot.

Still a lot to be desired from our D after that one. The one thing I will say, and I attribute it almost entirely to Marty, is our breakout looked much better than it has. Still some hiccups here and there but for the most part I thought we transitioned much better than the past month. Hopefully that continues and we can start getting back to playing positional defensive hockey.

I thought the D settled down nicely after that ugly first period. I know it takes a little while to adjust to a different goalie and alter play accordingly. I think that ugly 1st was combination of Canes coming out hard and our D having to adjust to Marty's return. Fortunately he bailed the D out until they could regroup.

Agree they were MUCH better after the 1st. Hell they only gave up 7 SOGS the rest of the way
