I wrote before, the thing about MSL being 38 is being overblown. Yes, he's 38. Yes, he's a veteran. Yes, he can probably see his career ending relatively soon.

Thing is, his conditioning and durability have been among the best in the league. I see him the same way I see Teemu Selänne, Ray Whitney, Jaromír Jágr, etc. All players, playing well, and playing well into their forties.

I actually think he re-signs here, honeslty, on another one or two-year deal when this one is up.

In the long run, it saves us money from what we would have been paying Cally.

St. Louis wont be worth 6 million in a few years either also after next year he will want a raise to stick around in 4 years who do you think will be worth the money they are making. Thats assuming St. Louis is still playing.

I can guarantee you he's still playing in 3 years, at least. Refer to my post before this. I've mentioned it time and time again, yet nobody listens.

Why not just wait to sign him in the offseason then?

It's not like the Rangers are even that close to winning anything significant, no offense.

Ha, they could and the cap floor will be an issue for them. They won't be in on Callahan though.

That team is so far from being close to a competitor that they won't do anything dumb this year (I hope).

They've already said they would and even make him the Captain. He's a Rochester native, he wants to go closer to home so his Grandma can attend all his games. And with 6.5M a year, she'll have season tickets ;)

Okay, so let me see if i have this right...

Yzerman got 1 high pick and a Captain level player for a few years -OR- Two high picks in two pretty deep drafts and a rental for a playoff run for a 38 year old guy who said he would only play in one place?

To quote Don Cherry: "Who's the best I often Ponder - Right now it's Stevie Wonder!"

Too expensive. Regier may have taken a crack at it, but I think Murray is a much better GM. They might make him an offer but they'll be VERY quickly priced out.

Well just cause you keep telling yourself that doesnt mean it will happen and even if he is still playing and does resign doesnt mean he will be worth 6-7 million dollars.

Definite change in chemistry for both teams will be interesting.....and if both guys didn't have disputes with their original teams I doubt this trade even happens. Crazy stuff. Rags better win now or this will be a huge set back....

Why does not making this particular trade automatically mean that you have to pay Callahan?

Irrelevant. There is no chance Callahan stays in Fla. He's heading home this summer and will be the Sabres Capt. next yr. Buffalo will give him everything he wants and they haven't denied it.
