I seem to remember being very surprised at the cost, but trusting that that was the cost, and trusting the brain-trust.

I trust I used the word trust too much in this post, but trust me, it was needed.

Salary relief is often all that is needed to get a guy from the Marlins.

I like it here.

POSEY CURSE

IF WE DO A DEAL WITH THE FEESH, THE POSEY CURSE WILL BE REMOVED. I DO NOT WANT THAT TO HAPPEN.

I wouldn't mind that, but iI'm curious what you think or even if you think we need any moves for this year?

I would like Norris.

If we can swing something with your favorite team that includes Crain, that would be nice.

I just want to avoid dealing any of the SJ Uber-Arms. I can live with one getting dealt for a name like Norris, though.

I never expected Scutaro, JLo, RamRam, etc, so I am not going to predict what minor guy comes over for a B- level prospect.

I really really think we are getting outbid for Norris, and Crain. which leaves those other guys. That's just how the market in 2013 looks. I don't like it either but if we are going to make a move this year it's going to hurt the pocketbook.

i guess I could see us not having to give up too terribly much in players for Crain if we take Rios and Peavy's contracts, but it would still be a Kickham or Brown or someone like that

I am fine with dealing Kick. He is a dime-a-dozen type player. I would be fine dealing Brown IF we get a decent return. But I do not want him included as a toss-in.

I know he has been discussed, but:

San Francisco Giants Rumors: Team Should Make Alex Rios Priority One

I don't know a lot about Rios, most importantly, how he would fit in the clubhouse.

I do know we could really use a RHH OF power-type guy.

He is scheduled to make $12.5 mill this year and 2014. He has a $1.5 mill buyout in 2015 if we get him.

I would only do it if it did not cost us a meaningful prospect (ie, ChiSox just looking to dump his salary), and the FO could afford it.

The hitters need a spark and Rios just might be able to provide it.

I think if we are to be buyers now, this is the type of gamble we would have to take.
