Here's a possible trivia question you might win a few drinks from: who has the longest tenure with one of Big 4 pro teams in Bay Area sports history? I think the answer is Patty at 17 years - can you guys think of anyone else from the other 3 big sports who would have a longer tenure?

Willie Mays played for the Giants for 19 years, but some of that in NY. Also, even though under contract, he served in Korea for a year. For Bay Area only, I think Patty wins this contest.

Yeah I was thinking of Mays but since the NY Giants were not a Bay Area sports team (i.e. there was no pro baseball here at all before they moved here) Patty wins in my book. I've asked about 10 hard-core Bay Area sports friends and all 10 were stumped by this question lol. The really amazing thing is there's actually an ACTIVE player staying with one team going on 18 years (more than half his lifetime). Very rare these days with all the free agency stuff.

I can see Posey or Couture being the possible next one.

Not Posey....2 reasons. 1) he is a catcher 2) it's Bay Area baseball.

True about being catcher, BUT he could end up finishing his career at first.
