Never said Gillespie was a great player. You asked for a guy who we could replace Ackley and Gillespie and all his faults was still as good if not better and was a RH to balance out this ridiculous lopsided lineup.

Just being RH doesn't make Gillespie an upgrade. Being as good as ackley certainly isnt either. There's a reason the guy got little playing time. He's just not that good.

I'm all for an upgrade to Ackley but that player is not on this team right now. He also wasn't on this team last week. Hopefully he will be on this team soon.

I'll say this about Ackley

I've had his back and was encouraged by his more aggressive approach in the second half of last year. Thought he was going to turn it around and be a .270 + hitter. He started the year off well too and since then has completely regressed

That 2-0 fastball taken right up the middle is what pisses me off about Ackley. He takes a lot of very hittable strikes. It also seems like he just closes his eye and swings as hard as he could sometimes

So Jack is managing this team's lineup? I know you guys love your conspiracy theories around here but that's not happening. Cole Gillespie didn't play for us for the same reason he didn't play for anyone else.

There was no competition brought in to challenge Ackley for a starting spot this year. The OF wasn't addressed at all. We are super lucky we are getting production from James Jones.
