I grew up lower middle class as well. Wrong side of the railroad tracks both figuratively and literally. I lived in a country neighborhood on the north side of highway 10 in the western outskirts of Houston. A railroad track ran alongside I10. Our neighborhood was on septic and well water and was populated mainly by poor white trash. The other side of the railroad track was being heavily developed with new neighborhoods for upper middle class income families. We all went to the same high school and it was pretty easy to tell who came from where. The girls from my side of the railroad track wore boots with traces of horse manure. The girls on their side smelled like Chanel #5.
I am guessing you feel the same way, but I don't regret a thing growing up the way I did. We never went without but also didn't know what we didn't have because we never had it. I went to the lower end of the two high schools in town. The other school had BMW's and such in their lot while we had beaters or nothing. They would stack their basketball teams and would look like an NBA team with all the height while I am playing center for us at 6' tall. Good memories and a simpler time. Loved it.

I always wanted to visit Houston. Heard good things about it, but AZ was as far as I got east. So how didn't you become an Astros fan? I loved them when JR Richard and Ryan pitched for them.

JerJer's priority is not improving the team, it is further reducing the payroll through trades disguised to look like he is improving the team. Same thing he did last offseason. The goal has not changed. But it was easier last year with more tradeable players in Robbie Ray, Kelenic, and Marco Gonzalez. Nobody wants the Miserable Mitches even if they are gift wrapped with a young pitcher.

But I can see them making a few moves at the deadline when they are 10-15 games under .500. JP will get moved. Any effective relief pitchers we have, other than Munoz and Brash, will be traded. Logan Gibert, with his refusal to sign longterm and his second year of arbitration pending (and most likely a $10-12 million contract) in the winter of 25-26, could be gone too.
If they are even debating on trading Munoz, I have a feeling they need to do it ASAP. In a way he is like Cal where they run him into the ground except Munoz has a history getting hurt every year

Told you that was going to be a talking point. Though I was expecting it to happen once spring training started
And if he is legit, I am fine with it. I mean the bar at 2B isn't all that hard since Cano left. But yes, parading out prospects is a great distraction from winning.

Don’t forget the legend John Olerud flirted with .400
Olerud was a freak. Two seasons hitting over .350 but his third highest BA was .302 and only hit .300 four times. But Clemente was a guy I probably should have given props to. Clemente playing 81 games a year in Colorado rather than Forbes and Three Rivers, would have been a beast. He would have hit alot more homeruns too.

Hey only 4 times is pretty good for a dude who should’ve died. Plus he went to the greatest university known to man, actually played great defense unlike Williams or Gwynn

My thing is that “press conference” I’m pretty sure they said he was going to start in AAA. There is literally nothing he could’ve done from then to now to show the M’s he is the guy. That’s what I’m annoyed with.

Really? I honestly don’t know. I had the Canadian channel that played every Blue Jays game and Olerud and Gwynn were shooting for .400 which ever year that was. He was a great 1B but I always thought he was dumb cause his helmet but once I found out he was a Coug I thought only an Alpha Male had the balls to wear it

The GG voters got so used to giving the award to Palmiero that in 1999 they gave it to him when he only played 28 games at first base. Olerud played 160 games at first base that year.

I think that was the David Segui year who got robbed from the joke Palmeiro. Point still valid. The dude won a $50K bonus for being a DH basically all year. I remember that pissed me off.

I'm so tired of using the stadium as an excuse for lack of runs. Get some real fucking players in here that can hit. Runs will go up.

But yeah....
In.

Most.of..the.we.need.guys.in..infield..
I get it ..
1.They have miner..league guys..coming.
Yeah ok. I get.that.

2.they.have.verry.littel..money..
To spend...yeah..ok..I get that as well.

And I was on it from.the begining..
With..
Rodgers..who.just.happens..to be.a.none.
Tender...as..the 1b..for Nat bats..
Was..for St Louis ..

None tenders..are good ones..
Like..yepez..Rojas .
Then there..are guys that end up.
.in.Minor leagues..

But yeah .so..I was always willing to.
Take the chance...on Rodgers...
At.2b...

Cuz with a bat ave of 263...
Ahhh...ok..with .20 pct..still have..
Rivas .Bliss..
But coming from .AA ..I was not counting.
In young...

Williamson..I would say..is not ready.
Either ..just ...yet..

Solano..fixed.m1b..some what
.and I'm ok..with him..cuz..
He hits..what...280..
So that's good .

Cubs .ss ..yeah..ya need.aleft handed.
Hitter..but .his ave..is...not really there.
Like Moore.

But it may help in a way...that it helps.
Keep..young and Williamson.
At.AAA...for now .

Solano..,shenton..,Locklear..1b..
They could use.a couple more..

Bliss, Leo Rivas..cubs..ss.,moore

3b cubs. Ss...shenton...Solano.

So this almost works ..but not quit..

They still.need..2;?more guys .at least.
Say Rodgers.
And a 3b..
Or trade .wash.for yepez .1b.
And put Solano .at 3b..
