But it is just his legs. Dude is literally around 6’3, cause he came and talked to this dude next to me. He has huge tree trunks but IMO his body is Griffey, where it is all legs where it looks natural but like he has never done a dumbbell curl in his life. But he fouled a ball off of his ankle, walked, then easily made it 1B to 3B. (That park sucks for scouting which is a different topic). He played a ball off the wall easily and threw a guy out. He doesn’t have a cannon but it is as good as any OF the M’s have. All I am saying IMO the Alvarez comparison is just strict projection of how he may end up, not who he is. (And a positive note for me, the dude next to me asked if I was a scout even though I had my son next to me)He is 19. Look at his legs. He is a big boy.
Yes I thought that was what we were talking about. His projection based on body and game is Alvarez. Not that he is or will be him, but his tools remind scout of Alvarez. All I am saying IMO the Alvarez comparison is just strict projection of how he may end up, not who he is. Good to know. I have never seen him play on TV that I recall so no way to compare. That is why I appreciate the eye test from someone that knows the game.My projection of Arroyo, especially after watching him, is Altuve. Doubt he will end up with the same production but he is the same body type and his game was Altuve esque. There is no scientific way he plays the way he does with his size. I am short but I am bigger than he is.
Another good to know. People think it is easy to go from SS to 3B because of athleticism, but it takes a special person to make that switch. A lot faster coming at you at 3B and you have have some stones to play there.Colt IMO is Kelenic, hopefully good Kelenic. He is a SS not a 3B…maybe 2B but his instincts aren’t there as a 3B. But Seager wasn’t a 3B and became good so possibly but I don’t think he can be rushed through the system as a 3B. Several foul balls that he wasn’t remotely close to, and his one ground ball he just looked awkward as F taking it…but like I said the field is terrible with being all turf.
I was into him I think two years back but maybe it was last year, but he seems to disappear amongst reports.I figured he washed out of the projection game. Glad to hear he still has something. One dude who isn’t mentioned that I was actually impressed with is Axel Sanchez. IMO he could be normal JP Crawford, not 23 JP but normal JP.
I guess I just don’t get the projection. He has the power that Alvarez has but I think his overall game is more than a DH. Maybe he will grow a little bit and gain a crap load of weight. I just think projecting him to lose skills is odd to me. And I was just really impressed that he fouled a ball off his foot then 1st to 3rd with easeYes I thought that was what we were talking about. Great report scout.
