Oh boy, how much is this gonna cost?

This looks like Stanton more than JeDi if I'm being honest. It feels like everyone at the top is throwing whatever they can to stay alive, especially by adding a $15 mill a year player basically in September. I can appreciate an owner that cares finally, but I think it's a little late. This is a bandaid on an amputation.

Marco Gonzalez.
Kidding. Sort of

What a joke that guy is, and I actually wanted to give JeDi the benefit of the doubt; even debated with NWinAZ like an idiot.

If it took O'Neill to get Marco, it better not have cost us Lewis to get Leake...

For the record, I like us acquiring Leake for the future. I just don't think he answers our issues this year. I know a few of us had a list of three starters in free agency we would like to get in the offseason, but I think this deal gets us down to the possibility of landing two starters at the most.

2018 starting rotation:

1. Paxton (for a month)
2. ??
3. ??
4. Felix
5. Leake

Darvish & Arrieta with Miranda #6 would give hope going into the year.

Just a little extra thought on this deal for the future.

Oh boy the picture is getting so clear now:

Cardinals front office:" We need to dump some payroll, call the M's and see who they'll give us."
M's front office: " hell yeah we'll take him, got nobody left down on the farm but we will eat that salary!"

Just scratching the surface of this trade it seems like a decent deal or at least its better than the other crap Dip was pulling earlier. Unfortunately Dipoto already fucked everything up as this is likely too little too late, we get the guy for a maybe 5 starts this season, even if he wins all 5 games its still probably not enough.

We needed a guy with an ERA under 5 and can pitch more than 4 and 1/3 innings last month Jerry, you fucking ass face!!!!

Dude what the fuck?

This is a move that should've been made months ago. On the surface, this is a great move. I've never even heard of the prospect we gave up for Leake, we're simply taking on his contract. But this is way too fucking late.

Instead of trading for Marco fucking Gonzales this is the move we should've made months ago. At this point, it may be too little too late. Had we made this move when we traded for little Marco, we'd probably have won a few more games.

Thanks. My coffee is just starting to hit me.

It just really pisses me off because this IS a good move, but one that should've been made months ago. I really want to love this trade, but I can't stop thinking about how we could've made this move months ago, still had O'Neill and won a few more games.

They are 2-3 in Gonzalez's starts. So how many more would we have won with Leake? Keep looking for negatives, I am positive that you will find them

Rayder Ascanio had little to no value as a prospect.

O'Neill will hit his first MLB homerun before Marco wins his first game as a Mariner.

Leake's second half splits:
6.90 ERA
1,76 WHIP

Cardinals GM: I ripped off DiPoto once. Let's see if I can do it again.

Leake is a #5 on a team that wants to compete. You don't pay a #5 $16 million a year, not even on the Dodgers or Yankees. How much of the money the Cardinals ate will be the final preliminary determination for how good of a trade this might have been. I'm about 98% certain they didn't eat enough.
