The kid has game, but will see if he can come back from 2 blown out knees.

I hate to say it but with the power and size in the NFL.. I will be cringing every time he touches the ball.

I wish the kid all the best.. hope he succeeds... but I am worried for him.

All I can say with his history, he better save all the money he gets in the event he can't overcome it. Nothing worse than seeing these kids blow their money and end up working as a bank teller 10 years later.

I like what he offers the 49ers post-Gore in 2014. He offers nothing to this years 49ers though, which is fine, because we still have Gore.

I agree this kid was one of the most talented RBs in college but having 2 very bad knees worry me. Every time some one goes low Im going to hold my breath. I wish the kid luck and hope he comes back from this and has a great 5-8 years with us(thats how long I think he has in the NFL) Dont know how long the knees will hold up.

It has been pointed out that his long legs and running style get him a lot of leg shots. Tacklers will tend to go low on big runners like him anyway. I'm hopeful he'll run lower to the ground once the coaches get their hands on him, and when sees this from Gore everyday. It was definitely worth the shot no matter what happens though.

Willis McGahee did it. Perhaps Lattimore can as well. He's going to really have to want it though.

Lattimore will be fine... he won't play this season thus more time to focus heal & recover...

2014 I see "limited reps" if cleared... so maybe 2015 is his big season?

Are we talking about McGahee because his injury was a gruesome as Lattimore's? Because McGahee only tore his ACL once. Gore is the better comparison IMO.

Even if you tear your ACL just once, your knee is still susceptible to not holding up long term. I know a lot of people will point out to the "advances in medicine" and all that, but I'm in the field of medicine itself and not everybody makes it quite back. Actually, there is a very small % of people who get close to 100% of full ROM (range of motion) but don't make it back all the way.

As far as McGahee is concerned, didn't he also tear the ACL, PCL, and MCL during that Fiesta Bowl game against Ohio State?

yep. looks like his pace of healing is going well, so physically he'll be more than fine by 2014.

his big opportunity now is to learn the scheme, especially pass protect.

I don't question he'll be back but the big question is at what level?

Is he going to be back to his top form or are the knee injuries going to take him down a knotch.

I would want him to get those knees too 100% as possible and not just healthy enough to be cleared to play before he hits the field. If that's mid season great and if that's next season so be it.

agree.

yeah, as far as what level that's the something we can only wait and see? since before he was drafted, that doubt or "I wonder" comes with the territory. to me it could fall within a wide range from bad to good?

People comparing tearing acl to what Lattimore had done to his knee are dillusional. His knee might never be anything close to what it was. And his upright running style gives rise to even more injuries possible.

Take one look at this picture and then tell me this guy won't be an NFL star soon!

Obviously it was a gruesome injury, but nothing broke or nothing tore. There is going to be added injury concern, but the risk is there for every player on every play. I wouldn't couldn't count the kid out.
